I think it's sad that people think leaving a garage door open is baiting. Like somehow people were forced to become thieves because the door was open and they are innocent victims. It's getting to the point where people can't have anything because they can't even defend what little they have. It was certainly not murder.

    Guilty.
Fry everyone involved, and anyone who saw.
Then nuke the state from orbit.

Do you really believe that shit spewing out of your mouth? It's not normal in any country to go into someone else's property uninvited for any reason. Jan comes from one of those socialist havens that pays for education for doctorates and shit and presumably banned guns, and even he didn't pull up "good samaritan (sic)" as a first responce.

You clearly didn't read anything beyond the goddamn title. Suffice it to say that when even Poodle says it's clear cut murder, you have no case.

If the person that got shot had kept on stepping he would have kept on breathing. He was the one who illegally entered somone's home. He made the decision to perform a criminal act that cost him his life. I will always defend someone defending their home and what it theirs. Now, if the purse was placed in the middle of a public road and someone been shot then that would have been murder, but in one's own home ? You go into someone's home uninvited and you are taking your life in your hands.

Yep. If the article is accurate, this was a douchebag and his douchebaguette manufacturing an alibi, not defending themselves. Situate 'em with His 'n' Hers spark chairs.

Not getting what you mean by "no permit." Do you mean you don't have to have a permit to buy a gun?

Yanno, I swear I've read testimonials from people in this very forum about how, in the "good old days" - meaning when they were kids in the '80s - people looked out for each other, not like today with the crime and the gang wars and the blah-blah-blah.

Guess that must have been the Other Wordforge.

Interesting you mention the Good Samaritan. Apparently some people here would have automatically assumed he was the one who mugged the guy and blown him away on sight.

Just trying to imagine what sort of parable Jesus would have told then, if someone didn't shoot him first for unlawful assembly.

"Hey, Martha? Bring me the AR-15. Them damn hippies is on the lawn again!"

Did your mother work at a shooting range when you were in the womb? You seem to have a instinctual/irrational hatred for all things gun. It's quite phenomenal really.

Obviously I spoke too soon, so let me 'splain it to you:

If you bait a criminal into committing a crime on your property for what ever reason and then you kill them when the trap is sprung, for what ever reason, then it is without a doubt murder. End of story. There is no way to defend that.

Oh and as for looking out for each other, we still do. Neighbor leaves their garage open when they go to bed? Then I go to their front door and inform them of the fact or call them. I don't go rooting through their stuff first. Only a thief does that. A kid who is not one of your neighbors rooting through your garage is not there to tidy the place up before informing you that you left your garage door open. If you believe otherwise you are an idiot and I've got a ocean front property in Arizona to sell you. I've had it happen to me three times since I became a home owner in 1998. I went to bed and forgot to close the garage door. One time resulted in kids coming through the neighborhood and stealing a good amount of stuff. How do I know it was kids? Because there was a problem with the little darlings vandalizing the area because they were bored and mommy and daddy weren't watching them. The other two times my neighbor either came to my house and rang the front door to inform me or called me. I am a sample of one, but I'll bet your next pay check that my experience is not the exception to the rule.

A number of years ago I took a day off to do some yard work around the house. I went into the back yard for a few minutes and left my garage door open. During that time (less than ten minutes) somebody stole my weedeater and leaf blower out of my garage.

    Wait...

    What frontline said.

Wanting to shoot people for the sake of it is not normal. And as was pointed out earlier, there were other ways to catch a crook without guns if they were serious about ending crime. Hell, even Zimmerman called 911 first. :jayzus:

You lock up your property as tight as you can and you "weather the storm"...

Eventually the thief or thieves get caught or they move on. Your odds of been burglarized are pretty slim when you think of it. I've gone through this before in my neighborhood.

If however you perceive the police to being lackadaisical in their response to neighborhood break-ins that's what you have a police chief, city manager, city commissioners if any and a mayor to deal with.

    He was stealing.

Stop trying to make excuses for him. He saw an open garage as an opportunity for an easy score. What he didn't know was it was a trap.

I hope he's in prison too. Once they are down and no longer a threat they are off limits to further shooting.

I totally disagree that opening ones garage door is baiting. Simple as that.

    Okay, KIRK1ADM. :itsokay:

    Here's what I found:

    http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/cjis/ucr/crime-in-the-u.s/2011/crime-in-the-u.s.-2011/tables/table-20

Can anyone else see what's missing from that chart? Yup, frontline's home state. Why? Because they haven't reported their data to the FBI. We can only imagine why that is, but maybe it has something to do with the fact that three of that state's cities have higher numbers of gun deaths than some whole countries.

But, hey, let's just keep repeating "Chicago!!11!" to create a distraction.

    Yay, Florida!

People are stupid. If they had kept their mouths shut there would have been no charges against them. Just a simple, "I heard a noise in the garage, grabbed my weapon and went to investigate. Saw someone in the dark, told them to freeze, they reached for something, and I didn't take any chances". Don't talk to the cops, they would rather arrest homeowners(who have money), than actually do their jobs and arrest people robbing houses(who don't have money or they wouldn't be stealing). It's simply a matter of revenue with them. When my house got robbed, I could not even get the cops to return my phone call.

Regardless of keeping their mouths shut or not, if you kill someone because you baited a trap that is morally indefensible.

Nope. They seem to flutter the shit out of you though.

Okay here is the deal, over the years, and especially in the last 18 months or so I have posted a ton of links and statistics to reputable sites like the FBI. Your inability leaves one of two possibilities.

    1) You are feeble minded, addle brained, or suffer from symptoms of senile dementia or Alzheimers and are therefore unable to recall those posts or to search for them. If that is the case you have my deepest sympathies and I say that in all seriousness and would be willing to assist some what.

    2) You are a troll.

Let's be honest, its #2. When everyone knows it and most don't play into your games, it means you're a lousy one. Find a new shtick.
