I was trying to read the last Lanz's blue room thread, and it won't go to the last page. It keeps bringing me to the last post I made in his thread.

Who's running this place? Zuckerbird?

F**ked up board is still f**ked up.

After the using the board last night, I had pretty horrible gas/shart attack and barely made it to the toilet. It was three flusher before I was done. Something is wrong with the board.

One thing I'm noticing is that the post/views ratio in the two threads I started last night is around 1/100. That's abnormally high, imho.

Well, this thread is over a week old now, and the other one is even older.

So who's fixing it? In fact, whose even in charge? Lanzman seems to be back, but only fleetingly. Tamar is around less than he is now. There seems to be no feedback from either as to who is running the show - plus no other mod seems to have given any positive feedback to us about what is causing the problem and how it's going to be fixed.

What if the whole place isn't fixed and goes boom, losing everything?

That would be sad And the otters would not like that.

That post? You mean the one where he pulled a solution out of his ass, and did nothing to fix the problem?
The board's still broken, in case you didn't notice.

That give no indication of:-

1. What the problems is.

2. Who is in charge.

3. Why his fix didn't solve the problem; and

4. Whether or not the problem is still being looked at with a view to sorting it out.

Is it really that hard to to keep the membership informed?

O2C is in charge of fixing the board, anything else is irrelevant and just you trying to stir up board drama.

Chup is going overboard but I do have to agree on one thing - THERE WAS NO FIX, no updates, or any hints at all past that post. The board's still frozen half the time.

This comes from the guy who routinely bumped his "board improvements" thread, repeatedly asking Lanzman what was happening about his suggestions.

Go take your hypocrisy elsewhere. This is the Help Desk, a place for us to communicate with the powers that be, not for you to be pious. I came here (in my own thread no less) because I wondered when I might stop getting "fatal errors", etc. That's hardly an unreasonable question.

Welp, O2C *is* looking into it right now. Beyond that, I dunno what else to tell you, as me or Tamar or Lanz doing anything would be akin to people opening the windows and flapping as the jetliner takes a nosedive into the ground.

We seem to have an unusually large number of spammers, spiders, and robots viewing the board at present. Not a ton can be done about that short of IP-based bans.

I'm no techy, but what if the IP address of the board were changed?

Alternately, how hard would it be to ban these spammers, et al?

Not useful at all; I'm doing it, albeit piecemeal - I don't want to net any legit lurkers; and if I knew that, we wouldn't be having these issues, respectively.

Changing the board's IP address is something of a Big Deal, as all the DNS stuff relies on that IP.

If performance is taking a hit due to spam/bot/crawler bombardment, doing some IP bans would be the only solution, like O2C said. Some of our users might wind up caught in that net, so no bueno.

Changing our IP address would do nothing. Bots are using our domain to resolve to the ip address.

Are the spambot IPs coming from a certain range of IPs? An IP rangeban might be called for, so long as it doesn't affect any members. Otherwise banning one IP at a time will barely fix anything, and is time consuming.
