I was watching Braveheart the other day, and was struck once again by how powerful the music is in that movie.

What are some of your favorites?

Here are some of mine, in no particular order:

Braveheart - every bit of music in it

Edward Scissorhands - So dramatic http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t0wxMdnF4G8&feature=related

    Star Wars- 'nuff said

Last of the Mohicans- One of the best scored scenes ever IMO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5SoeDAPj6gg&feature=related

Black Hawk Down - Gortoz A Ran . . . this song might be the saddest thing I've ever heard in my life. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMMAQbJeG8E

    Jurassic Park - underrated IMO

Superman: The Movie, all of it except Margot Kidder's voice-over.

Highlander, both the original songs by Queen, and the original music by Michael Kamen.

    Conan The Barbarian, awesome score!

Jerry Goldsmith's scores for Star Trek: The Motion Picture & Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.

I love James Horner's score for Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, and I guess he did too, seeing as how cribbed off of it so much for Uncommon Valor...

Erich Wolfgang Korngold's score for Captain Blood, The Sea Hawk, and The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Max Steiner's music for King Kong.

    Theme from "Magnificent Seven"

    da-da-dada.....dadada da-da

The most copied Western theme music ever, no doubt:salute:

Quentin Tarantino uses great music IMO,
with "Across 110th Street" (from the actual movie "Across 110th Street")
    being my favorite.

Braveheart and Last of the Mohicans are favorites. Batman Begins has some nice moments, but I've never listened to it alone to see how it rates.

Theme Song for Requiem for a Dream

many random Disney and Pixar movies (Tarzan and Shrek come to mind)

that last one i think was too broad, but there's too many random tracks to name. I'm a Disney nut sometimes:blush:

James Horner for many, many of his scores, which are just fantastic.

John Williams for many of the title themes to the movies he has worked on such as Superman, Indy, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, etc.

    Stargate! Great theme, meh movie.

Battle Beyond the Stars. Cheap Roger Corman Star Wars rip-off but with top-notch James Horner theme.

The Bond Theme. Bond Theme Songs: Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, Diamonds are Forever, Live and Let Die, Nobody Does it Better (from The Spy Who Loved Me), For Your Eyes Only, Tomorrow Never Dies (Sheryl Crow sings the opener, but the k.d. lang song 'Surrender' over the end credits is even better), The World is not Enough (!!!), and the one from Casino Royale (don't know what it's called, "Are You Ready to Die?" or somesuch).

    Too many to remember.

Basil Polidourus' soundtracks for Conan the Barbarian and Big Wednesday.
Christopher Franke's stuff for Babylon 5.
Almost everything from Jerry Goldsmith, Bernard Hermann and John Williams.
Robert Duncan's scores for Buffy (the series).

    So many others!

I'd say Last of the Mohicans is the best ever, from start to finish.

The Requiem for a Dream remix that was used in the Two Towers trailer but not the movie is absolutely incredible.

I liked Hans Zimmer's Crimson Tide as well.

Bond is probably the best used theme ever.

Indiana Jones had a powerful theme.

Funny thing is one of the best soundtracks I like is the music to the Halo games. The Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix is on my laptop.

And of course the Heavy Metal soundtrack from the animated film...

    Christine by John Carpenter
    Planet Terror
    Spy Game
    Titan AE
    The Last Temptation of Christ
Until the End of the World
Duel of the Fates from The Phantom Menace
    Batman Begins
    Day Watch
    Pump Up the Volume
    Mad World from Donnie Darko
    Casino from Run Lola Run
The Black Hole (which is done by John Barry of James Bond fame and does some wonderful riffs on Bond themes)
    Risky Business

And for those of you who love John Williams score to the original Star Wars [Scotty] No bloody "A New Hope" or "Special Edition" [/Scotty], I highly recommend that you check out Holst's Mars: The God of War as that's where Williams "borrowed" (some would say "stole") many of the elements for the score from.

Zimmer's work on Batman Begins is good, but it's purely mood enhancer music for the film. His stuff for The Da Vinci Code was better.
