Sure you already know what I'm referring to. I find the whole thing fascinating. Such overt plagiarism can surely only be done for increased press?
I'd say an amateur on Trump's staff did it without thinking. I feel bad for Trump's wife; she has to take it from him daily, she shouldn't be subjected to getting screwed by his fabulous staff. Or they figure the winning formula of poor performance, puffery, and lying about it should continue unabated (yes, done for increased press).
That wouldn't surprise me in the least. Like this "incident" from 2002: http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/73812/ryan-adams-not-amused-by-name-game From the first time I heard about this my immediate thoughts & suspicions were, & are, that this whole interaction was something cooked up by Ryan Adams himself, &/or his publicist(s)! And for ~the same reason(s) Melania Trump was purposefully doing an unauthorized reboot of Michelle Obama's speech from 8 years ago. This speech thing at Oompa Loompa Fest in Cleveland was probably, if not definitely, something cooked up by the orange skinned freak hair monster itself &/or its helpers, knowing FULL and DAMN WELL what the reaction(s) would be! Kind of like "B/Ryan Addams Gate"
That dumbass (or whoever her handlers are) couldn't be bothered to write her own speech? I can't say I'm surprised.
Definitely looks plagiarized. Have no clue if this is a calculated stunt (my guess is no). Will be yesterday's news tomorrow.
uh, if you're smart and rich, you pay english majors to do your speeches. Trump ain't that smart, but his wife most certainly is.
The most egregious fault is stealing from a woman who Trump has repeatedly claimed has no right to live in the White House (birtherism etc). Then there's the whole plagiarism thing. Are you being funny?
If the Trump campaign ran on a platform of bi-partisanship then it could have been nicely explained away as a not so sneaky way of showing common ground. However Republicans appear to be barred from admitting any similarities to Democrats these days. The most generous interpretation could be that this was such a generic and pointless speech that those lines could have easily popped up as boilerplate speech lines. But then you'd have to admit it was a shit speech to start with.
More and more, my theory is supported that Trump's run is either a) a gigantic troll, and now he's seeing how hard he can push things, or b) driven entirely by the narcissism of seeing his name in the press. Which is worse?
I don't think it has ever come up. When they do research papers of course they have to be sourced. But we have had few occasions to cite works of current political figures. Why do you people continually bring up what I teach or the way I teach it? I don't constantly yammer about the classes I teach.
Trump should be selling himself as a candidate this week. Instead he's on the defensive talking about stealing from Michelle Obama. He was going to get press either way. This isn't the message he wants to sell.
Indeed. Frankly I find it disgrace that an immigrant would come over here and steal from Americans like his wife has. He should build a wall to keep Slovenians out...
I'm fairly certain she's figured out the best places to hide his Viagra, so she doesn't have to take it from him all that often.
A white person is stealing from black culture like they did with rock 'n' roll and school shootings. I'm shocked!
Obama's Speech Plagiarism http://ilovemyfreedom.org/everyones-criticizing-melania-speech-look-obama-twice/
I think it would be funny as shit if somebody tricked her into using part of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright's "NOT GOD BLESS AMERICA, GOD DAMN AMERICA!" classic!
Well, some of the most famous portions of many political speeches were hardly original: nothing to fear but fear itself, blood sweat and tears, etc. But using similar language to express a similar sentiment doesn't amount to plagiarism. Lifting an entire paragraph almost word for word is a bit more troublesome, but ultimately just an amusing sidebar in a campaign full of crazy.
