So who wrote the New Testament? And why do you say you ow take the NT literally when you have previous said you take parts as a metaphor (such as the Book of Revelation)?
Revelation is the sole exception as the last several sections are specifically referred to as visions
If they are referred to as "visions". Then it is not an exception. Thanks for clarifying though, and from now on I can hold you literally to any quote from the New Testament and you can no longer dispute the validity of those quotes like you have in the past.
Generally though I've no problems with actual modern wine being used. Been to a couple of churchs who do it that way from a single cup. As well as hand made (cooked that morning) unleaven bread.
COC churches? The wife's family is COC, and I've been to a lot of their churches. I've never seen that. But they're pretty decentralized, so I can believe it.
That's cheese. Nobody ever really tried transporting grape juice across a desert because grapes don't grow there.
The fact that grapes don't grow in a desert is exactly why people transported grape juice across a desert.
Yeah, all the time I see people riding across the desert with a bottle of Welch's, because grape juice is so damn tasty.
Okay then. If the "wine" from the New Testament wasn't wine, and it wasn't grape juice, then what was it?
The merchant traveling across the desert story is about hauling milk in a sheep stomach, where heat and rennet cause the milk to form curds by that evening. Put grape juice in a stomach or leather bag and haul it across the desert and you're going to get something pretty nasty, as yeast doesn't like temperatures higher than about 80F, it takes weeks to property ferment wine, and then it needs to be racked and aged.
Jesus drank Pepsi products. Instead of discussing Eashoa Msheekha, maybe we should go back to discussing Melania.
Nothing about the Catholic Church, the pope or papacy, or most of the practices of the Catholic Church are mentioned in the New Testament. Now you’ll say of course “neither is the Church of Christ”. That would be true. Because “Church of Christ” is NOT the name of the church. It is more of a short hand designation. The church has been called many things over the years. But they are the only true church as long as they follow the New Testament. The New Testament is the only source of any legitimacy for churches or religious practices.
