Folks, I have been asked by board staff to take down my avatar. I have declined. The photo in question, along with several others, were posted by the subject himself on Wordforge in a Red Room thread on August 17, 2005. Certainly, I have altered a publicly-available photo into a parody, which therefore makes it legally protected under Section 107, Title 17 of the United States Code. Please direct any further questions to my legal counsels, Faceman and El Chup. Thank you.
The picture itself isn't a problem since Assvir posted it here himself. The maipulation of it though means that if it appears in your posts outside the Red or Grey Rooms then you might be trolling and rule breaking. However, due to a recent precedent set by the board owner, you no longer need to worry about a warning. Instead, just request that all threads in which you have been posted are transferred to the Red Room. Having said all that, I personally do not class the picture as trolling. You are clearly expressing an opinion that Assvir is an fanatical Islamic terrorist, and merely doing it over and over. There is no rule against repeating your opinion multiple times, or so I am told. How's that for legal counsel.
I can find no flaw in Chup's or WAB's arguments, and endorse the avatar. In fact, if somebody wants to shop a stump holding a beer in to the picture, I might have to use it too, of course requesting up front that all threads I post in be transfered to the Red Room.
Ah, the staff is protecting poor innocent defenseless Tasvir now. That's cute. Last week they were protecting poor innocent defenseless Visionrazor. How quaint.
That particular picture was not released by Tasvir...I know because I was the one who posted it beck in the day. Find one of the ones he actually posted of his own free will and there won't be a problem. That one is a problem.
Since Tasvir has already released photos of itself on the internet, everyone already knows what it looks like. Thus, the use of a photo of Tasvir released by another entity than Tasvir cannot possibly violate any rules about personal information since its personal information had already been fully released. Thus, WAB's avatar of Tasvir is not in violation of the rules. Clearly Tamar is eager to make her imprint on WF as its new overlord.
Maybe I really should. Because If I do what I want, there won't be a personal information rule. But as it stands right now, the rule is that if the person themselves didn't post the picture, it's not considered fair game...and you know it better than I do. Just alter one he actually fucking posted himself...the middle finger one, for example, and everyone can be happy.
Since the image was used previously by another poster without punishment by TPTB, it is clearly open for use. Perhaps we all should use this image to celebrate Tasvir's return.
Oh no, not staff for a week! A week of not having to deal with everyone's bullshit! What terrible punishment, you poor, poor thing.
"Kicked off the staff." Try posting his initials. Then Tamar will give you a two-week ban and expend a lot of Red Room time rationalizing it until Lanz reduces it to one week. Oh, wait.
Punishment isn't punishment unless you beg and weep. I wanted her quantum phased into a dimension of blackness, cold, and hissing smoke monsters, for 9 days. The other mods thought it was too much. Well, she's repeated the line-stepping over the years, hasn't she? Hand-slap didn't work. Smoke monsters would have.
given your lack of regard for people's choice of privacy in the past, it just seemed worth mentioning after that crack about personal info.
