So were Voyager and Enterprise but they were on the air for 11 seasons combined and hundreds of episodes. and mine is better of course.
Because you're not a member of the Guild Because you have no pertinent training or background in anything related to screenwriting Because you're not in L.A. to story pitch Because you're not related to anyone named Roddenberry, Berman, or Abrams I could go on...
I give it as much chance of happening as of Dayton becoming President. Or getting elected to the Senate, Congress, or a Governorship. Or actually getting elected to any public office above the level of, say...Dog Catcher.
Wow. You know, I'm wondering just how much many of you will soil your undergarments if I was elected to any noticeable political office....
He can probably get elected to a town council seat. If he were to get lucky, he might be able to get himself nominated for a seat on the state legislature. The two legislators representing my district are further to the right than Dayton.
I would think someone who vies for political office would already know the answers to such a question...
If you exclude the Navajo reservation, this area is about 75% Republican and about 10% Libertarian. Republicans have a huge advantage just about everywhere in the state except for Tucson, Flagstaff, and some parts of the Phoenix metro area. In my district the only time Democrats have much of a chance is if someone well-known switches parties and runs as a Democrat. If the "Democrat" is elected, his/her voting record is usually pretty conservative. For larger offices such as the House of Representatives, Democrats can be elected if they can turn out enough of the Navajo vote.
I've been reading Dayton's posts for over 10 years, and in that time he hasn't taken a single step closer to making his dreams of holding political office a reality. He isn't involved with local politics at all, so his name will never come up when they're deciding who to run for the next town council seat. It's pure fantasy, as is the belief that anybody is going to get nominated or elected to office, or get a TV show produced, simply because they have the best ideas. You have to be able to convince the people who matter that you're capable of doing the job.
With all the stuff Dayton won't allow in his Star Trek...what the heck is left? Wars and preparing for wars?
His vision of Trek amounts to little more than devout "Christian" humans on a crusade to conquer the rest of the galaxy with their fleets of mighty warships. I suppose it would make a decent TV movie on SyFy, but not much else. (I put "Christian" in quotes given that Dayton's understanding of Christianity is not quite compatible with the teachings of Christ.)
Successful football coaches seem to have inordinate amounts of influence in the US. If he finds himself on a winning streak, I could see Dayton turning that into some local office.
I have some serious reservations about "Sacrifice of Angels". But I think most of the problems could be fixed with a well done fan edit.
In your case, you don't matter as you cannot vote in the United States nor would your viewership or lack thereof count to an American television network. You're from Ireland. You should be accustomed to rank irrelevancy.
