I don't know if anyone else has bothered but New Girl was MUCH, much better last night than in its premiere.

will catch it on Hulu I guess, because the first one did kinda suck.

I also hulued Pan Am last night and was pleasantly surprised. The production values, soundtrack and overall "style" was pretty impressive. I kind of wonder how much they will do with the "spy" angle.

I'm watching Suburgatory right now for no apparent reason - and it's not bad. I hadn't been aware Alan Tydok was involved.

They put it opposite Castle, what did they expect? If the Browncoats are going to watch a series with Firefly cast members, it's going to be one with Nathan Fillion, not Sean Maher.

I had three main questions going into this season:

    1. Will Zooey Deschanel's charm be enough to make "New Girl" watchable?

    2. Will I be able to buy Sarah Michelle Gellar as anyone other than Buffy?

    3. Will Law & Order: SVU still be good after losing half of Benson and Stabler?

The answer to the first is no; the pacing was just too flat. Haven't been able to answer the other two yet.

My favorite pairing on SVU is still Munch and Finn. Those two crack me up.

I haven't been able to watch SVU since last year and won't since the guy left. He was the only reason I still watched it. Also have cut out Criminal Minds. You can only take SO much negativity (plus Criminal Minds scares the crap out of me).

Sarah Michelle Gellar - the plot of the show itself is interesting and pulled me in, but my word. Those long lingering tortured looks though *gag* (good grief. Is that ALL YOU CAN DO WOMAN!!)

I'm disappointing Playboy Club got cancelled. I've been PVRing it for when can watch it. That and Swingers (when it was out eons ago). Interesting TV that isn't a crime show or reality TV and it constantly gets cancelled. Why do I bother.

That's her whole palette as an "artist".

    Never took to her.
Hated Buffy, hated her, I watched the 6th season of Buffy for the whole Dark Willow saga.
Had me a major Hannigan boner back then.

Nobody thought it would do well, except NBC. And nothing does well on NBC.

Been making my way through the new shows. I try to watch the pilot and second episode back to back, if I have time, since it's the second episode that really clues me in on where the show is going.

I really dig "New Girl," though the roommate switch in episode 2 was awkward and the timing of the jokes still isn't there. "Up All Night" had a solid pilot, but the second episode is awful. "2 Broke Girls" didn't go anywhere for me until the end of the pilot (though I knew the twist since I'd already read it). Probably will watch "Free Agents" next, though I hear it's on the chopping block already. I have some dramas tivo'ed, but haven't had time to go through them.

So far, of the new shows, the only three that I am even thinking of continuing watching are:

Person of Interest; Neat concept, good characters, decent plot lines.

Terra Nova; Despite a disappointing second episode, I'll give it few more episodes.....we'll see.

Revenge; Wasn't even on my radar until I read some good reviews/comments about it. Although there is no way that I can see this being good for more than a season or so, it is looking to be very good. N.B. Don't piss off the young woman (lead actress). She will seriously fuck your shit up...

I've figured out the problem with "Up All Night." It's two shows mashed together, and they really don't have anything to do with each other. One is about a hard-partying couple who've just had a baby, and is pretty funny and original. The other is about an egotistical, deluded talk show host, and is terrible.

"New Girl" keeps getting better. And "Free Agents" just got canned. Guess I can delete it from my Tivo...

NBC is about the only major network I watch:

    Parks + Recreation
    30 Rock
    The Office

having the hottest women is a factor I admit, but these are all very funny IMO.

I deleted NBC after they fucked over Conan.
    Haven't regretted it yet.
Don't expect to in the near or middle future.
    Maybe when I'm 50, they'll make a show I give a damn about again.
Although, I expect to be even more cynical by then.

Two and a Half Men is painful to watch, it's a slow-motion train wreck. Kutcher has all the onscreen charisma of...well, Ashton Kutcher. Dead show by the end of the season.

Walking Dead comes back next week, and while I can't wait the departure of Darabont and the reports of DRASTIC AMC budget cuts, I don't hold out much hope for it lasting beyond this year. Implosion behind the scenes after season 2. Maybe a weaksauce third season.

Dexter will also run its course after this year, not because it's gotten bad but because the shelf life on such series seems to give out at about 4 to six seasons. They've run out of inventive ways for his to keep doing his thing...inertia.

Sons of Anarchy has a couple good seasons left in it depending on how they go.

Unfortunately I think the reality trend will continue to dominate. Look for spinoffs of the Jersey Shore starring single members of the cast.

These predictions are directly from my ass (which is coincidentally where I think they got Jersey Shore)

Been wanting to catch Person of Interest, but it's on opposite Grey's Anatomy and The Office, both of which the Mrs. DVR's. So I can't watch it on the main TV. And until yesterday our upstairs TV couldn't receive CBS in HD. Now that the upstairs TV is fixed, I'll try to remember to record it up there. But I digress...

So anyone been watching this show? If so, what do you think of it so far? Good/Bad/Ugly?

I watched the pilot and thought it was ok. Nothing special, although there's some potential there that they need to help refine. Jim Caviezal is pretty good, but too much of it felt contrived.

I only have three "appointment" shows that I try to never missed on first run (as opposed to catching them on Hulu or something) and it's one of them.*

the only new show to make that cut.

The premise is, to me, fascinating. the stories have been compelling and well written, the acting is good across the board, though Cavizel is a bit TOO deadpan for my tastes. Michael Emerson is - IMO - rocking the stage.

I haven't see a single thing that jumps out at me as being even below average, let alone bad. I can't recommend it enough.

That said, it's possible that folks with different taste might consider it a bit slow. but i don't think the pacing is significantly slower than other shows that get a lot of praise (say, Justified for instance)

(*the other two are Castle and Fringe)

so far, on the new season, it's the one show I must see. the others I'm trying to keep in touch with are Terra Nova and Ringer....and I will Hulu The New Girl when I get bored.

Among older shows, the ones I try to see when I get a chance are Justified, NCIS, The Walking Dead, and maybe one or two others.

So, I had to catch up on "Ringer" online tonight (that show is getting better and better too) and when it was over I noticed the first "Last man Standing" was available.

Frankly, you can read my past comments and know that no new show provoked lower expectations in me but i decided to watch it just to see HOW bad the train wreck would be.

Astonishingly, it's really not bad. I mean, it's not next wave clever shit like Community or 30 Rock or whatever, but if you like the basic old-school family sit-com like My Wife and Kids or George Lopez or whatever - it can stand with such shows and not be ashamed of anything. In particular, it's well cast.

I doubt I'll make a point to see it every episode (I'm not really a big sitcom fan in general) but one of these years I'm sure I'll see it five nights a week on Nick at Nite.

After "Louie", and "It's Always Sunny...", I can't go back to censored formula sitcoms.

I tried watching "the big bang theory", after the whole damned internet has been jizzing about it, and...meh.
It's cute for what it is, but I'm very aware of how scripted and fake it is.

I just took Ringer off of the PVR the other day. I know The Big Bang Theory is scripted but I really like it. Obviously can't relate to the super smart scientist part or the Penny pretty girl, but the rest of it (super Star Trek nerd)...that was me! LMAO!!
