Oh, and because it will persist otherwise: I haven't been threatened for being trans, as I hide it where I live. I *have* been threatened for being "effeminate," and for wearing colorful clothing. Several of the people who have threatened me were open carrying.

To add:

I live in a deeply conservative part of the country side. My neighbor is a former Sheriff's deputy who carries several guns on him at any one time, and has much larger and more powerful ones in his home. He is an ardent Trump supporter. I have spent years working on him to pull him away from that, but he always goes right back. He's openly anti-black, anti-immigrant, anti-LGBT, and he hasn't the slightest idea I'm pansexual and trans.

So, yeah, I'd be a fool not to protect myself.

That being said, this is the normal bullshit I see from the far left these days. Yes, UA was being a dickhead. No, he's not the one who started talking about physical violence. That was the people telling him there are consequences for his free speech, and that included other people doing violence to him. Him responding to it then was mocked and met with more talks about violence, including shooting.

Because far too often these days all that matters is who said something, not what was said. Calling UA a dickhead and ganging up on him for his views is par for the course. Intimating you want violence to him is not. Saying that he was talking about doing violence to others not in that context is a lie. Read it again.
