I handle my weapons safely. All of them of all types. If you follow the four rules all the time, every time, there will probably never be a problem. 99% of all gun related "accidents" feature a violation of at least one of the four rules.

But, with that said, my personal experience with the "handle your guns like you say" crowd has really been "handle your guns like I say." The usual bone of contention is carrying in public. Sorry, bubba, but just because you can't see yourself carrying a gun in public is no reason to prevent me from doing so.

You don't get to define the parameters of my tolerance or my resistance, comrade. Do I now or will I ever comply with background checks? No. The end.

A much better and far more intelligent way to go about things is to treat EVERYONE like they are incompetent with a firearm until they PROVE they are not. That means requiring everyone to take a comprehensive test where they first they should have to pass a background check then prove they know all the laws then having them demonstrate on the range that they can shoot while still following all the appropriate safety rules. Finally all guns should be registered start to finish and ALL gun sales, without exception, should be required to go through licensed gun dealers. If a gun is stolen they should have to report it immediately or be partially liable for any crimes committed with the gun.

This would eliminate a large percentage of accidents, you'd no longer have idiots who think they can shoot everything that moves without understanding the law, and we'd eliminate all strawbuyers making it much more difficult for people to illegally get a firearm. Having a gun, any gun, without it being registered and you having a valid license for it should be a felony where you lose everything you own and spend decades in prison. To get guns off the street the government should have a buy back program offering fair market value for any gun AND there should be a yearly tax/registration fee not less than $1000 per gun. One day late and it should be a felony conviction and lose of any possibility of ever owning a firearm again because they've proven they can't follow the law.

[/my solution to gun violence which would slash gun violence rates across the country]

Make any requirement you want for owning a gun...as long as we can apply it to voting.

Before the usual suspects say voting doesn't kill people...I'll just say..."W"

Doing absolutely nothing sounds much more like tolerance than resistance to me, and to other people who speak English, your headstrong posturing notwithstanding.

And with that you simultaneously provide a strong argument against registration but reveal that you are an anti-2nd Amendment extremist and lacking all credbility to intelligently discuss this subject.
Prepared to take that same hard line stance on car registration, Draco?
No, your solution would start a civil war in this country.

How about you pay a yearly tax/registration fee of $5,000 per car you drive? One day late and you never drive again. I see a lot more dangerous drivers during my work commute than I see incompetent gun owners.

BTW I should get decades in prison just for having an unregistered gun yet SOME FUCKER WHO COMMITS ARMED ROBBERY GETS OUT IN LESS THAN A DECADE? Do you NOT see the irony in your craziness?

The only thing I agree with in your drivel is a test to prove your competency in handling your firearm, just as you have to take a test to prove you can drive. Well, hopefully more effective than a drivers test because there sure seem to be a lot of dangerous drivers.

You guys know you're taking the wrong angle with driving cars, right? :garamet: It should be some other right that has a tax on it. Not like that would make much difference, though, seeing as so many of them support the idea of a tax for being alive (Obamacare).

Shit, they'd support a tax for being taxed if they were mentally double-jointed.
