Switzerland vs. Honduras starts in five hours and I'm already so horribly nervous that I consider to kill some beers just to survive the waiting time. It's no fun to die from a heart attack and miss the most important match since four years! :garamet:

Yellow cards are really flying in Brasil vs. Portugal.

Ronaldo for Portugal is a real ball hog.

Not only is he a ball hog those two shots on goal he took were just ridiculous and had no chance of going in, both times he could have set up a try on goal by crossing it to team mates. Something about him irritates the hell out of me.

It's Ronaldo's selfishness that makes Lionel Messi number one in the world and NOT Ronaldo. Messi is so dangerous with the opportunities he creates for his TEAM up front by always drawing 3-4 defenders and then setting up the goal. Some of the opportunities he has created this WC have been simply beautiful.

Oh and Portugal AND Brazil had some real comical, pathetic dives in the first half, especially Tiago from Portugal, way out front, Brazil outnumbered and what does he do instead of making a play on goal? He dives like a little pussy. Pathetic. :garamet:

The whole game was pathetic. In the world of economics, something like this is called "refusal to work". This game was just horrible to watch.

Well, the Knock-Out round is set. I predict the following winners: Uruguay, USA, Netherlands, Brazil, Germany, Argentina, Japan, and Spain. The toughest matches of the next round look to be US/Ghana, Brazil/Chile, and Spain/Portugal, IMO.

Japan is the only non-group-winner that I see advancing, so I'm not exactly going out on a limb here w/ these picks. Then again, we've seen a fairly decent amount of upsets so far in the Group stage, so anything is possible.

Well, Honduras managed to tie, which kicked both them and the Swiss off the World Cup. Still, they tied. You bet yer asses the whole country's at least a little happy with that.

I want to apologize to every soccer fan on this planet for the poor performance of the Swiss team this evening. No, I'm not really disappointed that we did not reach the next round. We simply do not deserve to be part of the best 16 teams in the world. But that's no problem, because we really do not have enough quality players and never could expect to reach the eight final. However, I'm ashamed that my team did not show any team spirit and did not fight to the bitter end. And we did not show any pride for our colors. Our whole attitude was pitiful. Shame! We played as if this was a friendly game.

@Talkahuano:Actually, our goalie is our only player who is above average! We don't need your goalie. We need your strikers! ;)

Yes, both of our teams failed during this tournament... No doubt about that. But in four years, things may be different. We will see each other in the final of the next world cup!:happydance:

Starting Clark was retarded. I can't imagine what Bradley was thinking. Fortunately, he realized his mistake and subbed Edu. Findley still doesn't know what to do with the ball. For all his speed and quickness, he doesn't bring anything positive. I just don't understand what Bob was going for with this lineup. The best we've looked is when Clark and Findley were firmly planted on the bench. Why change that? Hopefully, we start Buddle or Gomez in second half. If not, then Findley needs to prove me wrong with some spectacular play.

Also, Jozy looks like someone killed is dog before the match. He needs to wake up, get his head in the game and find some energy.

Bad luck to the US, they fought right to the end. The Dempsey chance would have been a stunner if it would have dropped in.

Good for Africa that an African nation is still in the cup. That should keep interest high and spirits up

This is on Bob Bradley. He stubbornly went away from his best lineup and put his team in a hole right off the bat. I'll never understand what he sees in Findley. The guy just can't finish to save his life. Fittingly, he had the best chance of the match to score and, predictably, he did nothing with it.

We've gotta be able to play 90 minutes instead of just the second half. Well done, Ghana.

ROFL. It was Ghana who stuffed the USA in the last world cup too.

    :us: :sorrow:

Well, we were simply outplayed. Giving up that first goal in the first four minutes of play like we have in almost every game really cost us this time. I knew that it would come back to bite us at some time and it did.

So as I was saying........ USA only beat Algeria and then got sent packing by another team who wont be winning the world cup anytime soon.

To be fair, USA put up a good display in their 4 matches. Their supporters should be proud. For a team who have essentially very average players, the round of 16 is an achievment.

Yes, it was a clear goal. In the end, it doesn't really matter - the Germans were clearly the better team.
