Sig P250 (It's got a video that runs automatically, but what the heck. )

So you've basically got a "fire control assembly"--trigger, looks like a spurless hammer, safety. Then you can pick out a "lower"--the "grip module" in full, compact and subcompact sizes. On top of that you pick out an "upper"--the slide, barrel, sights, etc.

So you can pretty much custom build your pistol depending on the task at hand. And you have the option of 9mm, .357 SIG, .40 S&W, or .45 ACP.

I find this an...intriguing concept. So say you want a standard sidearm. But you also want it to be a carry gun. Buy yourself a second slide and it looks like you can shorten the gun by about 2". Or you want to use a different caliber (although there isn't a .22 option for training)--it's easily done.

Or what if you want a service-sized sidearm, but you have unusually dainty hands. Get the subcompact grip and top it with a full-size slide. On top of everything else, it's got an accessory rail on the bottom for a tactical light or a laser. Pretty cool. :elwood:

One of the Sigarms employee's wife had to have come up with that idea.

A "one gun for every occasion" platform goes totally against the "Get one of each" mantra that is so prevelent among male gun owners.

I've never really jumped on the DAO bandwagon myself.

I know, rationally, that Glocks are very nice. And with the striker setup they have, it is possible to have a very smooth DA trigger pull.

Conversely, I'm not entirely comfortable with SAs and carrying cocked and locked. Again, rationally I know it's fine. But it makes me a mite nervous.

I like my decocking DA/SAs and--even though I'm a Leftie, I've gotten fairly proficient at flipping the safety and cocking the hammer as I draw.

Well, proficient with dry firing. I suspect in a real situation it wouldn't be pretty and that first shot is likely going to be DA. :calli:

If God had meant for Marines to be logical, he would have given them brains? ;)

I really like Sig. I'm a firm believer in Sig quality and craftsmanship. I think the Sig P220 is the second finest .45ACP handgun ever designed behind the 1911A1.

But, with that said, I think they're going in the wrong direction with this. They're trying to take sales away from Glock (most Glock parts are also totally interchangeable) and Sig just can't compete with Glock at the price point. Sure, they're not nearly as pretty as a Sig, but Glocks are half the price, just as accurate, and just as reliable, if not more so, than any Sig on the market.
