PM's are not private. They have never been private in spite of the moniker. Even emails aren't private. Every email you send is permanently stored in some database at your ISP. And the authorities can and have requested ISP's to retrieve old deleted emails during investigations.

Just assume that anything you write on the internet will be read by unintended audiences. And you will be okay.

What kind of a bizarre policy is this? If a dual of a banned member is "entertaining" he'll be allowed to remain. But if the dual is "uninteresting" it will be banned? Isn't that a bit...retarded? What's the point in banning a member if you'd allow them to use a "entertaining" dual? Or have I missed something here?

I never quite understood the big fuss over Hood or quite why he was banned in the first place. Wouldit be a big deal to let him come back?

Then why did he return with a new identity? What purpose do duals serve other than to confuse the hell out of everybody concerning their real identity?

Gul made a post that, very loosely interpreted could be taken to be a threat, or at least a threat of a threat, against Bear. Not the right interpretation, IMO, but under the circumstances I can understand the action taken even though I don't agree with it. My guess is that a private clarification and apology will be enough to clear that up if gul wants back, which I hope he does.

Zodiac wasn't banned either, Nick.

IIRC, Hood was banned during martial law for posting a PM on the board. When everyone else was let back in, he said he wasn't coming back. I guess he changed his mind and just didn't want to go through the process of talking it through with Elwood, so instead he made a dual. I'm sure if gul or Storm or any other banned member tried to circumvent this process with a dual, they would also be banned. Crosis' dual was not banned because he wasn't using it to be a pointless, uninteresting spammer and he was not a banned member to begin with.

But WF still has a ban on duals. I remember that from when I signed up here.

No, it doesn't. Duals can be locked at the admins' discretion, but there's no ban. Duals that are either harmless or serve a purpose are generally tolerated. Duals that flame uncreatively, spam, otherwise are used for mischief, or are used to get around asking the admins to unlock/unban an account generally aren't.

IIRC, his ban was made permanent because he sent a nasty PM to Elwood or something.
