So, are Zodiac and Chatacranny two different people? I just remember Chatacranny for being pretty good at the arcade.

    I'm curious....

Starscream was banned because of info in Guls PM's. Now Gul gave permission to read the PM's concerning the current incident. Was the Starscream information in those PM's? Or was it in older PM's that had zero do with this current info? Was every PM ever sent or received in his box read? If so then why?

    Some answers.......

Elwood read PM's that had zero to do with this incident.

A PM was sent to Gul by Starscream of which the body was: :hood:

That's how it was figured out that Starscream was Hood.

Something like that, a PM or email that at some point hit the board because I remember seeing it. And in typical Hood fashion he burned every bridge on the way out. It was a brutal assessment of Elwood, not unlike the stuff he used to post about Dan Leach.

IMO, despite that message to Elwood, Hood was one hell of an asset to this board. We could use some more strong EuroForge posters. Big Stall just ain't delivering like he used to. ;)

What did Hood do to get banned in the first place?

And why should a ban be made permament because the person is pissed off at the board owner for banning them?

He was banned for posting the contents of a PM. He then sent me an e-mail asking for his account to be deleted. I agreed and did so. To date, he has never bothered to contact me about returning.

Im not trying to cause trouble. Im just trying to work out whether my pm's were read without my consent, especially given that Tamar and Elwood made a big thing of asking for consent from all the other parties.

Let me get this straight though, had Elwood asked me for permission then I would have given him it no problem.

Storm's ban is now lifted. gul's ban will be lifted tomorrow evening after I get home from work and after I eat dinner. Rosencrantz's ban will be lifted Wednesday evening after I get home from work and after I eat dinner.

I sent the appropriate e-mails informing them of this approximately half an hour ago.

    Queue Demi....

So let me get this straight. We get a whole shitstorm about among other things whether staff were playing favorites in a trolling incident that led to members getting banned, so the first official change is those staff members are now allowed to engage in rep wars with the posters.

There's lots of people ticked off about the relative fairness of the bans. Except of course for one person, Storm, who pretty much everyone agreed (and he takes full credit for) instigated the situation which led to the bans by threatening to use personal information against another poster.

So Storm is the first person brought back from the bans.

    Am I getting this right?

Cause I keep waiting for the punchline.

Good to bring back posters banned for bad reasons.

Bad to bring back the guy that caused it all. Really bad to bring him back first, while the other guys get to wait it out.

Storm was banned first and communicated his desire to return first.

As for the complaints regarding the change in the rep rule, I deal with things as they cross my virtual desk. I hate it that you disagree, but that's the first request for change that was brought to my attention, so it was handled first.

Well, I'll give you this Elwood, you certainly aren't a politician. The vast majority of the time that's a good thing.

However, it can also make you appear to have a huge disconnect with the board you run, such as the sequence of those events. I'm sure you didn't look at it in those terms when you did it, but that's what other people are going to see, especially if they happen to be online as they happen.

And of course, you aren't an automaton, you could choose who came back first.

You chose Storm, who all along claimed to be defending you when he threatened another poster over the DW affair, which he was innocent of, but also because he complained about the way Goldeneye was preemptively banned.

I've been posting a lot about the perception of bias. I hope some of it sinks in.

That statement right there is why Elwood is the best choice to be the guy in charge.

    IMHO, of course.

However, I think this time the best piece of advice would be to approach it neutrally. If we're doing amnesty, then it has to be treated as such. Don't look for favoritism in actions for now, simply because things will have to come together piecemeal anyway, just as this whole thing unfolded. I think it's worth the effort to give the benefit of the doubt for a while, and see where it goes. I think it's time that we as a community have patience while things are brought around full circle. I think this community will be stronger for it.
