I'm rather surprised the government doesn't cover the legal costs of a dismissed case though. After a high profile case like this we might see some changes to that.

Apparently you need to be reminded that the attorney general’s office reviews the complaints and then goes forward with a public accusation of wrongdoing only if they feel the complaint has merit. Looks like there's some merit to those ethics violations to me.

A better idea would be to stop doing shit that launches ethics complaints. I;m only aware of one ethics complaint against Palin (Troopergate) but I understand that there are many. It would have been wise for Alaskans to elect someone who was knowledgable of Alaska law in the first place. The topic of tis thread is due to an Alaska law, and not a federal one.

Conservatives keep talking about how afraid liberals are of Palin, and how desperate we are for anything that can slow her down. Yet I haven't seen anything resembling fear or desperation from anyone on the left when it comes to Palin. Sure, we've tried to take her down, but isn't that politics as usual now? Yes, the attacks have been vicious, but how is that different than what was done to Bush or Clinton or Kerry or Gore? Certainly nobody was going around saying conservatives were smearing John Kerry's war record because they were afraid of him.

One could easily say that all the crap slung at Obama, from "B. Hussein Obama" to the accusations of being a secret Muslim to the birth certificate crap to the outright racism is all motivated by the fear of him winning, and then by the fear of him winning again.

In 2008, American voters showed that there is some appeal in "being part of history". I'm damn sure that accounted for a couple of million of Obama's votes.

With Palin in 2012, Americans would have the chance to make history again by electing the first woman president.
