Django Unchained Actress Accosted by LAPD After Kissing White Husband Danièle Watts, an African-American actress who played Coco in Django Unchained and appears as Martin Lawrence's daughter on FX's Partners, says she was handcuffed and detained on Thursday by police in Los Angeles who suspected she was a prostitute. According to Watts, she was approached by two police officers after kissing her husband Brian James Lucas, who is white, in public. Watts was reportedly asked to show ID and, when she refused, she was handcuffed and placed in the back of a police car. They let her go after finding out who she was. . . . . ---------------- Surely a black woman kissing a white man must be a hooker! And, of course, to compound the idiocy her husband wasn't stopped on suspicion of solicitation. She's lucky she's famous, or she'd be facing charges of resisting arrest.
It's the fucking LAPD. None of us in California expect much from them between Rodney King and the way they acted when the Big Bear serial killer was on the loose two years ago and their goons trashed a woman's truck thinking it was the killer's....a woman who was white, FWIW.
Yeah, LAPD. Santa Monica cops tend to be Latino kids and aging surfers. "Laid-back" doesn't begin to describe them.
Speaking of, I did stop through Santa Monica on my last leave six months ago. Seems like a really pretty chilled place. I think it was only after I got back to San Diego that I realized you lived there and not Santa Barbara. I guess the next time @Bickendan is in SoCal or Dinner returns to WF, we can have some kinda meet up thing. And also, NorCalForge is free to drive down too.
Actually, the allegation is that she was having sex with her butt-ugly husband in a car in view of others. That definitely is a crime and the cop had every right to ask her for I.D. The more pressing question is how NuBlack Panther Lietard is going to split time between Ferguson & California. So many cops to kill, so little time....
Yeah. Not seeing the outrage here being directed at the cops. They got dispatched and investigated. If she had given up the ID she wouldn't have been cuffed. She was probably acting like an idiot which is how most people act nowadays when dealing with cops.
And for what it's worth, the cops were acting on a complaint that the were having SEX IN PUBLIC. Cops have to act on complaints.
So the original race baiting reports were completely untrue? /shocked I've never heard of that happening before.
Oh LOOK MORE OUTRAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TMZ reports multiple witnesses from the nearby Directors Guild office building saw the "Django Unchained" actress and her boyfriend having sex in broad daylight in the passenger seat of the car with the door open. Not only that, but the outlet also obtained audio from the incident. http://www.ajc.com/news/news/national/new-audio-paints-different-picture-daniele-watts-i/nhNHz/ Oh wait! So she was having sex in public which is illegal. And the police never called her a prostitute.
Looks like another "Maryland Writer Sentenced to the Gulag!!11!" story. Overzealous media, not enough facts.
So when a man and a woman have sex in public, the woman gets arrested? While the man... is sorry to see her go, I guess? You people have interesting laws.
That's not at all what happened. Someone saw these two having sex or they thought they were having sex. Cops were called. Cops made contact. Cops are operating under what they've been told by dispatch: Two people having sex in public. Illegal. Cops ask man for ID which is legal to do since police have reasonable suspicion a crime has been committed. Man whose had run-ins with police before gives his ID to police. Woman is asked for ID. She instantly throws the race card, actress card in the officers face. Woman tries to leave. Police stop her and handcuff her. She finally gives up her ID. After a few minutes she and the man are released. They were probably checking for a criminal history and warrants if any. The man wasn't handcuffed because he wasn't acting like an idiot. The woman was acting like an idiot and got herself a nice pair of handcuffs. For a few minutes at least.
You would think people would eventually learn to NOT jump on the outrage train when stories like this first come out. It's kinda funny, for all of their claims that they want racism to end...certain people get positively giddy when one of the "outrage" stories hits the news.
That's an interesting version; it's not in the audio transcript linked above, although it admittedly doesn't directly contradict it either. Is this going to be another case of race issues being so controversial that it becomes impossible to find out what actually happened?
I'm just answering why the man wasn't put in handcuffs. He handed over his id and was cooperating. Hell the police let him take pictures of the whole incident.
I find this kind of thing abhorrent. It never ceases to anger me when I see people abuse the race card. I wonder how this callous little shit will feel if she's ever at the hands of genuine racism and when she cries out for help and justice people don't take her seriously. Scum like this just undermine the true fight against racism and should be absolutely ashamed of themselves.
The audio is on TMZ. http://allhiphop.com/2014/09/15/tmz-audio-django-unchained-danielle-watts-los-angeles-police/
Perhaps the bigger story here is that TMZ is now clearly the preeminent investigative news organization in America.
Thanks. This doesn't sound like any lewd behaviour could be proven. And is that the boyfriend saying to the cop: "I have her passport right here", right at the start?
