I can't imagine getting physically violent with any human being except in defense or a controlled sport. The idea of physically abusing a significant other is just unthinkable.

Maybe this has already been adressed (I haven't read the whole thread), but from I hear from many of the guys on my ship that are still single at thirty or so...yeah. For many, it does get tiresome to have different sex partners and no stability in life. If anything, the ones that have been around a while can actually appreciate a woman that IS there for them.

In fact, during the Age of Enlightenment, the idea of women's rights was often associated with the notion of freedom of religion.

We haven't turned into Iran because progressives, civil rights groups, and feminists have been pushing for women's rights since the founding of the country and have pushed back against the religious conservatives.

But if evangelicals had the type of power that the ayatollahs have, I'm sure these feminist groups would be quickly marginalized and shouted down.

Well, yes, he hit his wife... This makes him an asshole. Nevertheless, there were a few occasions when I was very close to hitting my girlfriend. Women can be abusive, too. And they use these things called "words". They can hurt like hell. Especially when you're in love. There are some crazy women out there... And they can turn into demons.

Thank Cthulhu I always stayed cool and never crossed this line. But I admit, there were a few incidents... My girlfriend has a temper, she attacked me physically one or two times for no reason. And I was close to "fight back", I admit. Very close.

So Dayton might be an asshole, but some women are "violent", too. I love my gf, especially because she has a temper and is kind of mad, but in our relationship, it was always her who crossed the line, and it was always up to me not to "fight back" and to stay cool.

So don't be too hard hard on Dayton. And it was years ago. And it happened only once. Once.

In contrast, I wonder what the statistics are for divorce for men who physically strike their wives?

It's more that Dayton dismisses that as an unimportant thing while criticizing anyone who engages in premarital sex as animals.

Women can be extremely agressive, too. That's my point. My gf made my nose bleed, literally! And when this happened, I thought for a few milliseconds to take her head and crush it on the next wall. Just for a few miliseconds, but the thought was there.

And just because I thought about it when it happened, I am as guilty as Dayton, in a way.

I think the problem many people have with Dayton in this instance is that he sees himself as somehow "superior" to people who have engaged in premarital sex when he himself has admitted to committing assault on the woman who loves him. Only a religious loon would see the former as being worse than the latter.

^Dayton's views may be absurd, he is a hypocrite, but when it comes to hitting his wife, I can understand him a little bit... As I said, just a little bit... Because I've found myself in the same situation, although I never got violent against my gf. Dayton would have gotten a lot of shit in this thread without mentioning the incidident with his wife, rightly so. But his confession made it even worse. Now he is just reduced to being a "wife beater".

Oh, I agree with you and Tamar that it's a one-time thing and that doesn't have to be run into the ground. The fucked-up part is how Dayton doesn't seem to realize what a judgemental fuckwad he comes off as, while putting out his own business out there for everyone. Most religious hypocrites have the good sense to be more discreet, at least.

And like Tamar posted in BD's troll thread, this would be embarrassing to his wife to find people talking about this private issue, and he has no sense of getting that, either.

Forgot to address that point in the last post--yeah, some women are crazy ass 'hos. I'd say the only times I wouldn't fault a man for hitting a woman is if she came at him in a closed fist (if you fight like a man, you can take a fist like one ) or if she's abusing his children and has temporary insanity.

Besides that, it's not hard to block a woman's hand/arm aside, or walk away.
