It's an interesting job that used to pay fairly well for a sit-at-home-do-almost-nothing job, but now, it barely pays the bills.

    Job: Software Developer
    Company: ?
    1-10
relationship with the boss: 7 - boss is quitting on Wednesday
and co-workers: 7 - half my team is quitting between last Friday and Wednesday, but I didn't like one of them anyway.
work environment: 8, trending 7. A lack of foresight has us about to lose our cubes for lack of space.
job resources: 4 - serious failure to hire badly needed personnel. But we get good laptops and monitors. But we can't use OSS without approval from Legal for every instance (no blanket OK for a particular license). But we get pretty much whatever proprietary software we want.
compensation: 9, trending 8. Increasing responsibility with no increase in pay.
    growth opportunities: 8
company culture: 3. The company line is about an 8, but the reality is seriously different.
    company reputation: 10
daily tasks: 7, trending 6. Things are getting worse.
control over the work one does on a daily basis: 9.

    Overall: 72/100

    Job: Network Operation Center Analyst
    Company: n/a
relationship with the boss - varies, because my boss varies. Currently its about a 3, last guy was a 9. But I've had 15 bosses in 10 years, so it doesn't much matter. Wait a minute, there will be another one.
relationship with co-workers - 9. Lots of good guys and gals, some friends I've known for 20 years.
    work environment - 7.
job resources - 9. Company laptop, Iphone, rarely need anything we don't have.
growth opportunities - 3. Of course, changing direct report every 6-9 months makes that damn near impossible. Always have to start over with the new guy. Layoffs are a biannual thing.
Company Culture - 10. Lots of parties, ping pong and foosball in my area, free drinks, difficult to get fired (though occasionally that's a minus for people that really need to be let go). 5 weeks vacation, best day care for my kid I've ever seen. They do a great job here.
Compensation - 8. For what I do, I'm very well compensated.
    Company Reputation - 3.
    Daily Tasks - 6.
Control over Work - at the moment 4. In the past its been as high as 8 or 9. Got a boss who is Dr. No.

    59/100.

However, just 6 months ago it was 70. Not great, but acceptable. A lot of it is that I've got a boss that is bad at his job and seems intent on stifling others. If that doesn't change soon, I'll be out the door.

Sifting out the irrelevant bullshit and distilling it down to what matters:

Is my job worth the pay? 90% of the time.

It's not a social club or group therapy. I'm not paid to be happy and make friends, and I don't care how my company is perceived.

I agree with this. I'm not sure how much of a relationship there is between "my company has a good reputation" and "I am satisfied with my job." Personally, I work for [-]North American Cocaine and Prostitute Importers[/-] a company that is not all that well appreciated (other than by our customers, of course...) but as long as I enjoy my job, what does it matter what [-]the police[/-] other people think of us?
