My daughter had already recommended Boardwalk Empire. I put Breaking Bad in my queue. I'll try a season of The Wire. I've seen John Adams -- not bad. I own From the Earth to the Moon and Band of Brothers. Not too crazy about the Jesse Stone flicks. Justified's okay. We're four episodes in to Deadwood and I'm liking it a lot. This has been very helpful, thanks guys!
Dead Like Me was brilliant! Callum Blue from the Tudors is hilarious. Watch for both Jewel Staite and Nikki Clyne guest shots. Mmmm...death metal Kaylee. Sandbagger is right to steer you towards Corner Gas. Imagine Seinfeld in Saskatchewan, with characters you can like. Also, if he's reffering to the late 80's WotW tv series, look for me peppered about the background in S2.
err, yeah, there was.. They tried for a grittier, road warrior feel and did most of the shooting in chemical plant complex at Lansdowne and duPont in Toronto. Lot of 12 hour days on that set.
I think you're mixing it up with that lame Cyberpunk Dystopian show that starred a few of the actors from WotW. It's a common mistake.
IMDB treats the two seasons of War of the Worlds as one series. According to IMDB, War of the Worlds, filmed in Toronto, ran for two seasons; '88-'89 and '89-'90. In the USA, the second season was titled - War of the Worlds: The Second Invasion. There were 23 episodes in the first season, and 20 episodes in the second season. Only one actor and one actress appeared in all 43 episodes, and no other actor or actress appeared in more than 24 episodes. The series was created by Greg Strangis, who received writing credits on all 43 episodes. The series was produced by Hometown Films, and distributed by Paramount Television.
Funny thing is, I don't think I've ever watched a complete episode of it. Looked around youtube and found a couple of the scenes I remember being in though. I'm actually recognizable in the fight ring in s2e4 and got a decent scuffle with Jared Martin during his entrance to the "bar". Funny thing about that ep. During the shooting of the opening when the scavenger kids smash up the car there was a lunar eclipse. We'd paused for a few moments to watch and as the moon slipped into shadow one of the spotlights.. well, it didn't explode, but it sure popped dramatically! Seems I was always in bar scenes...Ep 1, I'm at a table with a llama. Found the scene, but the pic quality is garbage. What's really disturbing is that the place has been converted to condos now. That's some nasty land to be living on given it's past use.
Just to be clear, I'm reffering to the BBC version (the real Top Gear, imo), not the dull as dirty dishwater American version on the History channel. Can't wait for the new series to begin next month!
