A known criminal armed with a gun, who opened fire at the police, was shot dead in return fire. This has triggered a night of rioting, looting and violence in the North London area. The amount of looting was staggering. It seems all types of scumbags descended on North London to take part in this sheer barbarism. http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2011/aug/07/tottenham-riot-looting-north-london Police should've shot the rioters and looters too.
I just hope the shop owners know that the police will protect them in the long run. Maybe not right away, but soon - some day. Hold on to the dream!
How many rounds do your cops have? Looters are scum and should be shot on sight. Give the Met some SA80s and call it a night.
Peaceful protesters? Probably a fair few. More scumbags looking to cause trouble? Again, probably be a few more but same treatment should apply. With rubber bullets. And bring out the water cannons if we have any. Last night was totally ridiculous. The police did nothing to dispel the rioters, they pretty much let them have their own way and look at the destruction these savages caused.
Things are't entirely clear-cut. Guess it depends on who's reporting the initial incident. Here's the Guardian's take: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/aug/05/man-shot-police-london-arrest And here's the view from the Daily Mail: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...k-Duggan-shot-police-London-cab-shootout.html
British police are scum too - their senior ranks are now infused with the likes of PGT and Dan. They're good at enforcing the law when it comes to compliant whiteys, but less so when it comes to the urban youth. There's no way this situaton should have escalated. A plague on both their houses.
Not really. The more the government crack down, the more people fight against it. Just look at Syria.
I just cant see how, if the cops had shot 20 or 50 people last night then tonight the violence would have involved thousands if not tens of thousands.
Looters != Protesters. Syria != UK. The fact that in both cases you would consider the two one and the same speaks volumes about where your sympathies lie.
The funny thing is that if any of these store owners had shot a looter, the cops would be down there arresting them for murder. The world's gone stark raving bonkers, folks. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
While I'm not up on what happened in Tottenham last night, that's certainly been shown not to be case where the British police are concerned.
Sounds like the guy was a bit of a scumbag and was beloved by his fellow scumbags, who are using this as an excuse to burn down their own neighborhood. If Dan is, in fact right, and the next night the streets were filled with unruly chavs, I'm not seeing the downside. A bullet--even 10,000 bullets--is a lot cheaper than keeping these drains on society on the dole.
So in typical Dan Leach fashion, he expects them to roll over and take it in the ass. I can't say I am surprised.
Not normally, but if I had reason to suspect there would be civil unrest in the vicinity of my business, it'd be 'honey I'll be working late', lock n load, and Katy bar the door!
A few things in passing: 1. The guy was being investigated by a special police unit. He was (illegally) armed. He was aware he was under surveillance by the authorities. He fired a weapon at a police officer. Those appear to all be facts. Couple that with the fact that his best friend was murdered, and the picture starts to emerge that: (1) this guy wasn't so innocent and (2) his immediate circle is connected to violence. 2. Anc is right. Rioters != Protesters. 3. Where does all this suppressed rage and enthusiasm for mayhem come from? This all seems reminiscent of Watts in the 60s, or maybe even South Central after Rodney King, but today's young white Londoners can't feel as angry or as unjustly treated as blacks in America decades ago, can they? Hell, even when there was a shooting (apparently accidental, during a routine arrest) here of a black youth by a white transit cop, things remained orderly, even though emotions ran high. There were protests, but there was no violence, no looting, no rampaging.
This riot was a hodge podge of just about everything. Part of it was young dissatisfied youth. There may have been a race element too but obviously not too strong as a bunch of white chav types were in there as well. And there was very definitely an anarchist / hard left element involved, stirring and driving much of the thing, especially the smashing up of banks and what not and the burning of businesses. That's right up there street.
