Well, as Winston Churchill told Lady Aster "...now we're just haggling over price." :spock:

Forcing women to give over control of their bodies is a form of slavery.

People in actual slavery might disagree.

Just because their situation is literally more dire does not negate what @Bailey said -- a form of slavery.

I’m not. They can go somewhere else where abortions are legal.

I’m sure, to a trust fund baby, traveling is nothing. For others, though, it can be an insurmountable task. Nice to see you attempting to see another person’s point of view, though.

There are also bills out there right now seeking to make it illegal to travel out-of-state for abortions or to assist others in organising such activity. The Constitutionality of those bills has yet to be decided, but given what SCOTUS just did does anyone actually believe they wouldn't rule in favour?

It's already illegal in Idaho for women on parole since if they leave the state without their probation officer's permission it's a parole violation.

    1. Not every woman has the means to travel out of state to a place where abortion is legal.
    2. The people in red states have or will have laws on the books that could potentially form a cause of action as to people who assist residents from their state get abortions out of state. The Texas bounty law does not necessarily make a distinction between those who facilitate a Texas resident from getting an abortion in-state versus in California. There would need to be some jurisdictional issues settled, but given that such issues would be resolved ultimately by a conservative federal judiciary and Supreme Court, the writing's sort of on the wall for that one.
    3. In the meantime, it's unclear what will happen even for those women who can afford to travel. Will they have to report the fact that they are traveling from a red state to a blue state in order to procure an abortion to their company HR? If so, what will their company do when red state politicians try to subpoena records as to those who sought abortions? Currently, various large companies offer benefits that would allow for travel. But will they continue to do so in the face of lawsuits?
    4. It should be apparent to anyone with functioning brain cells that the anti-abortion movement is not going to rest on its laurels and enjoy that abortion is going to be illegal in about half the states. Eventually, they will push for increased restrictions and outright bans in as many states as they can, and they ultimately will push for a nationwide ban or a court decision holding that fetuses are full people under the U.S. Constitution and thus no abortions are permissible, even life/health of the mother or in case of rape/incest.

If they go for a nation wide ban I would not support it. I also don’t support punishing anyone who preforms an abortion or who seeks one.

So you'll throw away your vote on third party candidates like the Libertarians who have been taken over by hard core right wingers, because anything is still better than voting for Democrats. :dayton:

Why? Seriously, just asking as there is nothing on her official website stating her position on ANY issue.

She’s reasonable and supports some things I support like a public option for healthcare, she’s not bad on guns, supports legal immigration and expanding the H-1B visas which the LP has also supported, and she’s not actively trying to turn this country into a socialist hell scape so I can support her. I’m never going to get who I truly want anyway so I figured I should shoot for close enough.
