Potentially could have a tie in with Po Dameron, whose parents were active in the rebellion. I can't really see any other obvious tie-in, though.
I don't have the screengrab on me, but Bail is in the trailer. It's when the rebels are looking at the hologram of the Death Star.
It's him (red circle). There's a behind the scenes featurette where he can be seen more clearly, and next to Dodonna is where he was standing, so it's him.
There's a scene in the trailer where Rebel X-Wings are attacking something. It would be cool if--via digital magic--they made a couple of these pilots Biggs and Porkins.
Gamestop (Remember us? We're the place you used to go when you bought or sold physical media. Remember us? Come on! We're still relevant! Guys? Guys?) put together a "supercut" of the trailers for the film in what they think is chronological order. If they're right, then this would give us an idea of the plot of the film. I don't think they are. There's elements of the film which don't add up to the right "beat" for how a film like this would go. For example, I think that some of the battle sequences we see before encountering Forest Whitaker probably take place after meeting him, but I've no idea. Some of the edits are really jarring in how they change location/events.
No, Vader strikes them down with his lightsaber whines about Padme and sand until they kill themselves.
We're missing some pieces. I think that reconstruction comes close, but it's not totally accurate. Something significant happens that changes Jyn Erso from "I rebel" to "rebellions are built on hope." That conversion has got to happen near the end of Act Two. My guess is the team's mission is to retrieve her father, and it fails. To complete the mission, she has to get on board the Death Star and rescue him. That's why she's dressed as a TIE fighter pilot. Oh, I'd also bet we're gonna see the Death Star wipe out a planet. And we're gonna see it from the ground.
If the first planet destruction happens in Rogue One, why is Alderaan such a bid deal in ANH? Alderaan has to be the first, or else they need a damned good loophole.
Well, Alderaan seems to be one of the most populated and culturally central planets in the Empire. They might blow up the equivalent of a testing ground on some remote atoll in R1.
My theory for how it ends. Bail Organa- Since you were all such good boys and girls, you get to come with me to Alderaan! Home of the greatest cyber-park in the galaxy!! Rogue One team-
Never is it explicitly stated that Alderaan is the first ever use of the weapon; Tarkin only says they will test the destructive power on Alderaan, a "ceremony" to declare the station operational. But the weapon could've been test fired before. In fact, an earlier trailer for Rogue One says the Empire is preparing a test of the weapon, and this could not refer to Alderaan at this point. Some planet's gonna get blowed up real good, methinks.
I think all the character names in this film are a little too "Star Wars-y" for my liking. I know that sounds weird, since it's a Star Wars film. I guess what I'm saying is that the names seem a little forced. Okay, that was a bad pun. I'll give up now.
