So what should be done, we ban Dinner even though he contributes on issues not related to those things?

Eh, I've occasionally tried to bait him on Twitter, but he is more strategic about responding than you might expect.

    Dayton3 just got dehumanized.

    http://wordforge.net/index.php?posts/2916094/

But seeing as Gul-Stalin doesn't like Dayton3 it's okay for Tuckerfan to do the deed I guess. (given that Gul thought it was funny)

And no it wasn't a flame nor a troll of Dayton3.

See the problem isn't the rule which I don't actually have a problem with. The problem is a cancer named Gul who should have enforced the rule because he's hell bent on trying to change the board for the better but as everyone can see if you're not a Gul favored poster the rules don't matter for you.

What Tuckerfan did was neither a flame nor a troll. He dehumanized Dayton3 using Dayton3's real life medical issues.

What Ramen did was overt racism.

    See this is the rule:

Overt Racist or Dehumanizing Content Will not be Tolerated.

The key word in that sentence is OR.

So both Ramen and Tuckerfan broke the rule. Just in different ways.

But as we know Dayton3 is not favored by Gul so it's okay to break a rule when it's Dayton3 that is the target.

For chrisake, Zombie, you know damn well the difference between the two things. By the way, if you really think not allowing people to flame in the RedRoom is the way to keep the spirit of Wordforge alive, you are really lacking in all clues.

Nope. You can't have it your way.

Tuckerfan dehumanized Dayton3 with his real life medical issues. He didn't flame him. He didn't troll him.

Ramen committed overt racism against Anna over her skin color. He didn't flame her. He didn't troll her.

    Both broke this new rule.

I'm not saying Tuckerfan should be banned outright but why are you not enforcing the rule?

    Oh that's right. It's Dayton3. It's okay if it's him.

Was that directed at me? If so, it's completely false.

Ok, that is wrong in three ways. One, I wasn't happy to see @gturner pushed off. Two, I'm not criticising rule 8 in order to defend @Dinner against being pushed off. Three, the reasons for pushing one and possibly pushing the other are completely different, so there would be no reason to assume that one's opinion on one should fit one's opinion on the other.

You know, maybe Zombie is right. The only way to interpret such a rule is in the strictest sense. Zombie has dehumanized me by making the Stalin comparison. I'm going to miss having him around, but what can be done?

No, I'm asking them to clarify how the rule is intended. I honestly don't know whether they think a typical @Dinner post from the last few months breaks it or not. You seem convinced that this rule means @Dinner either has to change his contributions to this board or be banned, but I don't know if any of the owners agree.

As far as I can see, you're the only one who has been saying that. Did I miss something?

No. Technically that's a troll. A weak one to be sure but a troll.

Now if I knew you were wheelchair bound and I was knocking you for being less than human that would be dehumanizing.

No, you have argued for the strictest interpretation. Trolling me with the Stalin comparison means you are calling me a monster. That is clearly dehumanizing, and you will have to go.

Stalin was a person and saying someone acts like him is hardly dehumanizing.

In any event it is perfectly obvious Gul will continue selectively enforcing the rules only against people he deems his enemies so what is the point? The experiment for free speech that was Wordforge is over and Gul is the cancer that killed it.

    All good things...

It's sad and pathetic that some people feel the need to (even though it may be within their rights) have everything cater to them. If someone truly believe words on an internet forum can hurt you then the internet is not the place for them.

While it's true we are not a university we are a place that embraces free speech so making this place into a safer space than our increasingly nannyesque colleges isn't something we should strive for.

If you want to use the rule to take out extremism without thought that's posted just to troll so be it. But if you use the rule to be more than just a time place manner restriction and use it to remove content and points of view you don't agree with then that's fucked up. How the vague rule is used will depend completely on who is behind the wheel and right now that is Gul. From the gturner and VR debacle it's not an uneducated assumption that he uses it in a broad manner to snuff out ideas that are personally offensive to him or a majority of people.

Of course you live in Euroland where free speech is increasingly curtailed where speech can be offensive to race creed religion or sex so I'm not surprised at your backward views. Naturally I had to add that personal attack because I'm just here for the anonymous trolling.

You are incorrect. It's free unless the left doesn't like it. Check the number of conservatives not welcome to speak at universities in the US. If you choose to be disingenuous you are only fooling yourself. That's what makes this so unfortunate. WF as a place for free speech might as well just close up shop. Utterly pathetic.

In the face of the fact that you are currently making broad rules specifically to target users you dislike just like you banned GT and invented a room just to abuse him? That is rich.

The very first tenet listed in that link that I posted:

    http://blogs.findlaw.com/law_and_li...st-amendment-rights.html#sthash.tkvQTiHS.dpuf

Wordforge is not your home, it belongs to someone else, and they let you come here and post, but you are limited in what you can do and say. How is that eluding you?
