So, it gets to be a Car of the Year, even though not one has been sold to the public. Wonder if they give it that award to help boost sales.
See [-]Rush[/-]Liz, because [-]we're[/-]they're the World’s Automotive Authority, [-]we [/-] they get access to many cars before they go on sale. If you go back to the beginning of the thread, the whole article is there rather than having me explain it to you. But yes, getting the award will probably boost their sales. Now, if C&D is nothing but a schill for GM/UAW, than I presume there's reasonable knowledge of that within the automotive community. If they aren't a GM/UAW schill, then we may likewise presume that they really are impressed and recommend purchasing one. That would be the general purpose of trade mags... to present an informed opinion to the public.
They mention the Toyota Prius and Nissan Leaf, presumably the two options that are even comparable. Again, read the article. Its all in there. I imagine if you read the magazine itself, it will explain their criteria far better than I can guess at it. I'll repeat my opinion for you though; which is that it appears to be the first of a new generation of automobile. Thus, there isn't much to compare it against equally. That uniqueness in and of itself is probably what makes it special for them.
Fuck, this shit is still going on? Who the fuck cares? Seriously who decides their car purchase based on a magazine anyway? The Volt IMHO will be a failure. It's too expensive even with the government subsidy. On top of that the looming economic crisis that is slowly heading our way (contrary to the lies of the Administration) is going to kill it even further.
I don't buy those magazines. Sorry. Not about to spend the money. And which article? The linked one or the one at the start? Right now, it's been so long, I don't remember what I all read.
Sorta off-topic but I've always been partial to [GOOGLE]Road and Track[/GOOGLE] myself. [GOOGLE]Car and Driver[/GOOGLE] deserves a mention as well.
I think there's only been one episode so far but it opened with a bang. Dodge Viper versus attack chopper.
Another article detailing how the unions are cleaning up at the expense of the taxpayer and "evil" big business. Everyone else may get screwed in this deal but this Democratic constituency is going to get their payoff.
The future of personal vehicles will be weekend repair hacks like me, bargain shopping and scouring salvage yards for affordable parts to keep old heaps running rather than buying new cars. I am, for once, ahead of a curve.
