Recently Rush Limbaugh had something to unpleasant to say about the Chevrolet Volt and Motor Trend magazine for picking it as the "2011 Car of the Year". This is their response: http://blogs.motortrend.com/rush-judgment-5957.html
Any car that requires a $7500 tax break in order for people to buy it is a failure. I prefer the old sales model: car companies make cars people want and will pay for with their own money.
Yep, because God knows we never would've produced automobiles without government subsidy. BTW, since the Volt is a hybrid, you'll still "run out;" it will just take a bit longer.
The thing is there are other hybrid/electric cars that ARE being sold and driven and should have been given as much if not more attention by Motor Trend. Remember, the magazine gets paid by the motor companies to help promote sales. Perhaps Rush has a point.
Wait, what? A guy refutes Rush's opinion with his own opinion? If the dude had written a scathing rebuttal which discussed the merits of the car and dared Rush to prove he'd driven one, he'd have owned. instead he's basiacally saying "all that big government stuff you don't like? well that's good stuff. Why? Cause i like it"
???? I know what I'm wondering is how can a car be a "car of the year" when no one has driven the car? Or am I missing something?
Oh and the so called Volt is a nasty environmental disaster. How do you think they make those batteries?
I get around 32 mpg in my 2007 Corolla and that is just running around town. And it didn't cost 40K brand new.
Ok Chris thanks for proving you're an idiot. That's all you've done with this DST thread. you're a union boy we don't expect anything better from you.
No, not really. I just keep expecting this place to be held to the same standards and not a conservative circle jerk.
Admitting you're somewhat intelligent and a troll is the first step. What standards? Oh and dismissing disagreement as conservatism doesn't wash.
apostle really shouldn't have questioned Chris' intelligence. People do let their prejudices override their thought processes all the time. I know I do it. Then again, Chris didn't respond with much grace so it makes me wonder whether he yet realizes how wrong the original article was. It's so bad that there are still points to be made against it that haven't even been covered yet.
Has the Volt met the requirements to be classified as a clean car in CA yet so that it gets its little sticker?
You missed reading the article from the look of things. That's still only the sixth or seventh paragraph. You're approaching Babalical proportions of dumb here.
Difference being this guy is an editor of THE trade magazine and Rush has a driver... Although I gotta agree the writer's UAW sucking slant was more than clear.
Brilliant link bait! Take a recent statement/news event from a celeb, slap some controversial - if stupid - comments of your own to the tail end, and watch.
Fair enough. The fact still remains that Rush is no more qualified to rate a vehicle yet to come on market than most of us. The writer has seen/driven/etc the car and analyzes them for a living. Which one likely has a more reliable opinion?
