Places you go if you are a serious, credible scientist (albeit in no way qualified to talk about viruses because you're a radiologist) responding to criticism by another scientist (who is head of the national pandemic response team) over COVID - literally anywhere except Russia Today. https://crooksandliars.com/2020/11/dr-scott-atlas-goes-russian-tv-blame-dr
Surprise surprise, rural America just won't be told what to do by those librul doctors and scientists. Maybe we deserve more Trump for staying in a country with these assholes.
Read this today, thought you'd be interested: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41582-020-0398-3 It's a bit older than the Buzhdygan paper so acknowledges (then) lack of a confirmed entry mechanism, but does provide an interesting overview of where we stand on the neuropathology of COVID and the limitations imposed by cross infection measures on use of scans. Where post mortem analysis of CSF does indeed show evidence of viral markers without scans a causative relationship to generalised neuro - esque symptoms cannot be established where those symptoms are also consistent with systemic disease biology. In other words the very things we are doing at a clinical level to reduce risk are also removing a key link in the required evidential chain. Which doesn't suck at all.
Probably because Mexico refused to pay for Trump's vaccine. It's all the fault of those mean Mexicans.
Found out tonight my mom has covid. Me and Governor Reeves are gonna have words. At least, I'm fucking gonna have some.
Hopeful? Note: Only animal studies so far, and it's not yet peer-reviewed. The short version: Nasal Spray Study Raises Hopes for COVID Protection The actual paper: Intranasal fusion inhibitory lipopeptide prevents direct contact SARS-CoV-2 transmission in ferrets
It doesn't matter any more, and this thread should be closed. Donald Trump and his bootlickers repeatedly assured us that on November 4th, it would be done and no one would be talking about it any more. Of course, now that I think about it, I can't remember a single one of those quotes where they specified what year they were talking about...
Pfizer says early data signals COVID-19 vaccine is effective Company says shot may be up to 90% effective, but cautions study is ongoing
Yes, was thinking of posting this - it's not based on full Phase 3 results yet and there are some caveats: 1) logistics of deployment are an issue - it needs storing below -80C so liquid nitrogen likely necessary (depending how much below -80 they mean... some ULT freezers go to -85) 2) hasn't been widely tested across age groups 3) no-one yet knows how long antibodies remain effective But it's definitely promising news. Now watch Trump jabber about how "convenient" it is that the news didn't come out prior to the election...
