Thank you! But maybe it's because there is just no way to determine which businesses & employees have been hit the hardest. We have many millions of American with almost as many unique situations.
But wait it gets better - we have 50 states with differing unemployment laws (for example). Now factor in each city has it's own lockdown rules affecting employment/cash flow/etc etc.

If it's taking this much negotiating just to decide on a rubber-stamp set amount for the stimulus checks (it truly must be rocket science) variations would stop the whole she-bang in it's tracks. :(

A little off-topic but I think that the time limit is soon to expire on the "no eviction" rule. :shep: When COVID-19 started the first thing I thought of is "rent & mortgages payments can't be deferred forever. The tab will still be running. The landlord needs that rent money because they likely owe somebody who owes somebody." All that debt just won't be written off indefinitely. Eventually that hammer will drop and it won't be pretty!

Biden is too busy trying to count to potato. Pelosi is a witch. Trump is being Trump. Luckily cooler heads prevail for the most part, and stimulus money will be flowing soon.

Another acquaintance says he won't get the vaccine because he doesn't believe the same industry who hasn't come up with an AIDS vaccine in 34 years, came up with a safe COVID vaccine in less than a year. Also, he says, it gives you Bell's palsy. Do you want Bell's palsy?

Perhaps tell your friend there's a pill you can take daily that's 99% effective at preventing HIV infections? :async:

It's actually much worse than that. I just got a long e-mail (several parts of it were even semi-coherent) explaining how if you get the vaccine it will permanently alter your DNA. Bill Gates himself admitted it. If I understand correctly, it will somehow incorportate "666" into your DNA. (The e-mail wasn't very clear at this point, but it did mention that the vaccine contains Luciferin, distilled with 66.6 ml of phosphate buffer solution. That, at least, sounds like really convincing science!) In any case, the vaccine is the Mark of the Beast.

And just for good measure, the e-mail also informed me that the Catholic Church is a false religion that is not part of the Christian faith.

I'm just so thankful for the person is who sent me this e-mail! I might have gone ahead and gotten vaccinated and discovered I was turning into a worshipper of the Beast! (If only the information had mentioned which vaccine has all that stuff in it, it would have been ever better...)

Obviously Fake News - they didn't include the datachip containing the barcode that's injected with the vaccine. :D

At least HIV is actually a virus. There are other people going around demanding to know how there can be a SARS-CoV-2 vaccine when there isn't a vaccine for ... wait for it ... the common cold or cancer.

Actually, there are vaccines against cancer. One is the HPV vaccine that helps prevent cervical cancer and there's the Cuban lung cancer vaccine.

Still, it's the absolute lack of knowledge (and oldfellaish refusal to learn) that impresses.

Eventually all cancers will probably be resolved and/or prevented at the mRNA level but, for now, the medical establishment relies on chemo/radiation because that's where the Big Bucks are.

Well, sort of. I'd argue that calling Gardasil a cancer vaccine is a major stretch.

In other news, Covid's mutating, fucking over the UK. EU's shutting their borders, specifically to England...
    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-55382212

... as is India, grounding flights between UK and India. Meanwhile, mutations in South Africa; and India and Russia are working together (!) in developing vaccines.
Video at Hindustan Times (for you anti-Stan types, 'Hindustan' literally means 'India', so stop stanning Stan; he don't appreciate it):
    https://www.hindustantimes.com/vide...sia-vaccine/video-V7SYmQPl1qjXccBmxLMe2O.html

In yet other news, the poster known as Bickendan was escorted from the microphone by local stalker fans of Y'all Qaeda after his horrible 'Stan puns. An 'Antifa' style riot downtown may be his only way out; stay tuned to see if the Mayor of Portland gets gassy/ed...

And if it's in England, it's already in the rest of Europe. It was first detected in September. Which means that long before exponential growth began to make it widely known in England, it had gotten into other countries. The only reason it is not yet widely known elsewhere is because it hasn't had time to do so. The holiday season will do a wonderful job of spreading it all over everywhere, and I fully expect serious lockdowns again before the end of Januray.

    The bad news:
This new strain appears to be up to 70% more contagious than the other known strains of the virus.
It appears to affect children just as much as anyone else, unlike other known strains.

    The good news:
The mortality rate does not appear to be any higher.
Vaccines developped for previously known strains of Covid-19 should be just as effective against this strain.

All of that information is tentative, pending further investigation. It is only what appears to be the case so far.

The Perfect Storm factor in all this appears to be Brexit, putting a terrible time crunch for Brits attempting to establish residency on the Continent so as to preserve their EU citizen status before the end of the year.

The more people it infects, the more likely it is to mutate into something the vaccine won’t protect against. We may be fucked and don’t even know it.
