That's the one my wife got. I got Pfizer. Moderna definitely was a worse hangover. Still better than the rona though.

Buckle up, pal. Excluding respiratory symptoms, I essentially had the flu for 36 hours.

I'm due for Moderna, and I'm hearing horror stories. But my daughter's a first responder, so she's had it and, aside from muscle aches the next day, she got through it. I'm hoping - shared DNA, same blood type and all - that it won't be that bad. Fingers crossed. :(

Still get it. 36 hours of suckage was far, far, far better than ending up on a vent or worse with 'Rona.

A week ago I did the funeral of a friend who went from not feeling well to dead with 'Rona in 10 days. She was sedated on a vent for a week and had somewhere between 12-15 strokes due to blood clots caused by 'Rona while on the vent. The doctors convinced the family to pull the plug. 10 days.

"Just like the flu" really pisses me off. 22,000 people died in the 2019-2020 flu season. The flu is serious fucking business. Making light of it shows that we really have become a nation of douchebags. :brood:

Okay, is this good news or bad news? My doctor says I have an underlying condition that would qualify me for priority with the next group. :chris:

Does it escape the vaccines though, that’s the question, since even people who have had COVID are getting vaccinated. I’m very concerned we won’t know until it’s too late.

My wife is a medical assistant who works in a family practice. All the MAs got Moderna shots. Some were sick for a day, some for a few, some not at all. It really does seem to just be the luck of the genetic draw.

a scheduling problem maybe? Possibly, but if I'm reading it correctly the vaccinations were already underway when the protesters showed up. If that's what it is, then the protesters should have figured out a way to get their message out without being total dicks and creating problems that affect health & wellness.
They were chained to a fence? Good, throw needles at them until they get the point (HA!) about not being counter productive dicks.

30% of the total population of my zip code (according to the latest census data) has been given at least the first shot just at the hospital. This isn't including the various doctor's offices that are administering vaccinations and Walmart.

We have 4.9 million people in the State.

then that's pretty good because a lot of those 4.9 million are kids who won't get the vaccination anyway. So a lot of people that really need to get the vaccination are indeed getting it.

Idaho has a pre-registration website that's so simple and easy to use that it's enough to make you wonder why they didn't have it ready to go as soon as the vaccine was. Of course that reminds me of what Winston Churchill said about Americans: "They'll do the right thing...after they've tried everything else."
I'm signed up. They just expanded eligibility today to group 2.3. I'm in group 3 which I suspect will be open week after next. :dancer:

I looked at the pre-registration website and one thing jumped out as a possibly problem:
"Your age and risk factors will also be verified at the time you receive your dose." So how will your risk factors be verified? Do you need to bring your medical records or statements from your doctors with you? If not, how will they verify them? Do they call your doctors? What if your doctor isn't available at the time?

Not being a dick, I'm just saying this is the kind of detail that's "assumed" but ends up with disappointment & frustration. I just like instructions/directions to be crystal clear.

Don't know :clyde: I do have a message from my doctor that I have such a condition. This being Idaho they might just take your word for it. Personally, I think getting shots in arms is more important than anything. At this point with doses being limited I see the real goal as ensuring an oorderly process. I think it's possible that in a few weeks it will be a moot issue as the trickle of vaccine becomes a (relative) flood. I'll try to make a mental note to pass along what proof they request.

A note from your doctor should be fine. Yes I agree if it were up to me I'd rather see somebody get the shot versus not get the shot. There are sadly plenty of people who for various reasons will not get it even if it's available. So certainly if the vaccine production/distribution gets fully ramped up they should drop all the levels of priority and get shots into all those willing to get it.

What pisses me off is the people that were begging for a vaccine see people on Facebook with bad side effects and freak out so now they don't want the shot.

I hear there’s a meme going around that says “You spent your whole life eating Chicken McNuggets and drinking Diet Cokes and you say you won’t take the vaccine because you don’t know what’s in it?”

Point of order: the most deranged animal rights activists come from all across the political compass, and their only loyalty is to the animals. Five minutes of googling showed that both Obama and Trump were appreciated for signing bills strengthening protections for animals, and that AOC is an inhuman monster for buying a purebred bulldog puppy. :async:

Anecdotally, if I see a particularly loathsome comment on Facebook I'll sometimes click through and check out the person's profile. I've seen more than a few rabid anti-mask, pro-Trump, q-anon nutjobs whose pages were also full of animal rights stuff.

Senate passed the COVID relief bill. Not a single GOP senator supported it.

I have seen a few smokers bitch about the vaccine. Even the anti-maskers not gettingh the vaccine seems a little silly when you realize what is in unfiltered air. Do anti-vaxxers ever kiss anyone, or wipe their own asses and then not wash their hands? Do you carry around some listerine and rinse every hour or so to kill all the growing bacterial colonies, because your breath says fuck no. Do you run off the five second rule on eating shit from the floor? It is almost like if you really are an anti-vaxxer you should be drinking bleach. Do you know how much shit gets into your body you do not know about? Why do most of them seem like they would eat road kill every so often because there is no reason to waste a rotting corpse. I especially love the ones who hate vbaccines yet lick their dog's face. You dog eats shit FFS, and then you are going to complain about a vaccine?

Before any of you go there I already have the mind control worms that came from my cat's poop so I do not give a flying fuck about a vaccine that will allow me to live longer to serve my adorable, cute, cuddly overlord of death.
