In case anyone is wondering why local businesses are elated about the CHAZ, this was the scene a day prior to the police giving up their 6 block lockdown of the area around the East Precinct.
Sorry, Anc, your real sources don't matter, because Marso's source was founded my Michelle Malkin, the greatest political/journalistic mind whom ever lived. https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/Michelle_Malkin#Twitchy
The problem is that the post didn't invoke President Man-Child's common refrain. If it had said "FAKE NEWS! LAMESTREAM MEDIA!" then he might have paid attention.
what does that have to do with the U.N. anyway? They are just one big self congratulatory circle jerk of an echo chamber most of the time. Without military force behind them they are tits-on-a-pipe wrench worthless. So I guess war and bullying are okay as long it's through a properly vetted consensus.
A self congratulatory circle jerk? You've just summed up my complaint about provincial Americans and the reverence in which the almighty Constitution is held despite it's obvious failings. The U.N are very active indeed in promoting awareness of human rights issues, in providing disaster relief, in quietly negotiating hundreds of small conflicts which never quite boil over to the point the make front page news. Far, far more effectively than the US's hamfisted imperialism dressed up as compassion. Military force is not required for any of that, but I do realise you struggle with that idea because, hey, it's all you know.
Capitol Hill Business Alliance can also find no evidence. This entire thing comes from one anonymous comment on a CHS blog article. It then made its way through the right wing social media/media bubble and is now accepted by old credulous conservatives as a fact.
Sure it would! However, I just figured out why most of you idiots are here. The only question is which one of you is which?
Police walk back report that Capitol Hill protesters extorted businesses The Seattle Police Department walked back its claim, widely repeated in the news media, that denizens of the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone are extorting businesses. "That has not happened affirmatively," Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best in a news conference Thursday afternoon, adding that the police department had based earlier claims on anecdotal reports, including in the news and on social media. "We haven't had any formal reports of this occurring." That contradicts earlier statements from the police. In a news conference Wednesday, Assistant Seattle Police Chief Deanna Nollette said police have heard from Capitol Hill community members that some protesters have asked business owners to pay a fee to operate in a roughly six-block area around the precinct. Police Chief Carmen Best repeated the claim in a video address to officers Thursday morning. The police narrative rang false to many in the Capitol Hill business community. Restaurant owners said they hadn't heard any reports of extortion in the Autonomous Zone. On the contrary: Sales are strong and the increase in walk-up business is cutting down on delivery costs. "This protest has not hurt us at all," said Bok a Bok Chicken co-owner Brian O'Connor. When he came to the Autonomous Zone Wednesday, rather than extortion, he said he was met with an offer of a free bagel-and-cheese sandwich. The claim seems to have originated on conservative blog The Post Millennial, in an article written by former Seattle City Council candidate Ari Hoffman. The article quoted unnamed police officers who alleged protesters were extorting businesses for protection money. Hoffman did not respond to questions about his sourcing. The claim was later repeated by a commenter under the name "Marcus S." on the Capitol Hill Seattle blog, and in a tweet by Andy Ngo, editor-at-large of The Post Millennial. Apart from those sources, Christina Arrington, who heads the Capitol Hill branch of the Greater Seattle Business Association, said she has had "no other indications that this is taking place." The GSBA "found no evidence of this occurring," the group tweeted, based on conversations with area business. The Seattle Times, among other local news outlets, repeated Nollette's claims that the police had received reports of extortion from community members. —Katherine K. It really is. A focus on aesthetics and smiles on tv over the reality that Americans lose more teeth than Brits.
not too mention, those "pretty smiles" are just covering up decay that still exists under the surface...
He'd sign up with Hitler if he got his own plane and a bunch of brown people to bomb. He's a tin pot little fascist who despises actual free people who don't lick the leather.
Ironically based on that fact of tooth loss. Americans statistically are more likely to have cosmetic surgery, realignments and/false teeth. Brits tend not to do this, just relying on good old fashioned oral hygeine.
oral hygiene is all well and good, but when your teeth start coming in all cattywampus it's a whole new ballgame! I knew a few people who a shitload of extra teeth, and the best oral hygiene in the world won't fix that.
I don't know what a cattywampus is, but good oral hygeine does indeed prevent teeth coming out. Conversely if you have extra teeth it's easy here to get that fixed. Believe it or not we do have a very good dental healthcare service, it just focuses on hygiene rather than aesthetics.
That sounds suspiciously like a dodge for "There isn't enough money in the public kitty to pay for all the kids to get braces, so nobody gets braces."
Sounds like someone who values style over substance and words over deeds, boasts over accomplishments.
Okay Einstein, let me ask you this: if the Guard rolls into the precinct there, shoots a bunch of anarchists, and cleans the place out on the basis of stories like business owners being extorted, who won the information warfare game, and who lost it? Because I've got news for you, that's the narrative that's being broadcast just about everywhere you aren't, and people believe it.
Yeah, the Nazis made up a bunch of shit about the Jews too. Did some real damage. Still wrong. Still lost. You'll lose.
Yes. Bootlickers believe the bullshit they are fed by their right wing media masters. Doesn’t make the bullshit any kind of special, just the dumbasses... dumb.
cattywampus means all jacked up - all sideways and shit. Granted just yanking out teeth that are popping up where they shouldn't probably is a very easy way to fix the problem! I could have saved a few bucks by just having some of my daughters teeth pulled instead of guiding them into place over several years but day-um.....that's pretty fucked up! I would think having my daughter look like a retired hockey player is something I would try to avoid!
Oh...more advertisers are jumping the S.S. Murdoch... One of Seattle's critics is, however, hurting today. A bevy of big advertisers — Disney, Papa John's, T-Mobile and Poshmark — have pulled or discontinued their spots given Carlson's comments on the Black Lives Matter protests. "Bye bye Tucker Carlson," T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert said in a post.
