The thing is, it's really only women who are being condemned for their "stupid choices". Men in a similar situation are more likely to be congratulated.

So abortion can act as a sort of equalizer, giving women back their bodily autonomy. Maybe that's why some men, who have comparatively very little at stake with the issue, are so vehemently opposed to it.

But you would presumably have me pay to support those born into families that lack the means to take care of them. To be clear, I'm not offering to pay for anything. Not birth control, not abortions, not STD treatment, not subsidized child-rearing and not bottomless repositories for unwanted kids. It's a question of how ugly you want that scenario to get, this decision to allow abortions or not.

And if Theodore could have seen what Franklin and his wife had in store, he likely would have been terrified for the first time in his life, and used that veto pen to put down Progressivism like the abomination it would show itself to be. Government: oh look a shitload of power; don't worry we won't abuse it...

Meanwhile, because you and your buddies want to screw around without being reminded of the painful consequences, you'll just keep this up, huh?

Sorry if I hurt your feelings with the truth.

Condoms fail. Sex ed fails. People who are responsible with their sexuality don't screw around and have babies they can't raise. That's the education that people need.

And, yes, people do go back to being animals all the time and make mistakes that they regret. But by the time they've made the mistake of creating new life, they've crossed a line where they need to grow up and clean up after their own mistakes. Isn't that the kind of responsibility you're always preaching here? Killing an innocent human life without even the benefit of a trial is a pretty darned cold-hearted, animalistic vision and I'm not going to support it.

I'm guessing you only want to tell other people how they have to behave and now how they should expect you to behave.

Grow up. Things happen to people and they have to take responsibility for their lives whether they like it or not.

That's not a sermon. It's doesn't mention God. So don't accuse me yet again of preaching to you. It's a fact of life.

Hardly. DNA testing should be able to equalize this burden. Abortion isn't used as an equalizer. It's used for convenience. Check the stats. Sure, there are abortions for rape, incest, etc. But those are a minority. Most are because the mother has decided she just can't handle the responsibility. And most of those are not even teens.

I realize society doesn't really value life or else we'd pursue the father in these cases, though. But that point has been clear for a long time.

So, circling back around to "children are punishment for misbehaving"?

    :jayzus:

Since it still hasn't sunk in, I'll repeat myself: I'm not offering to pay for the consequences of anyones choices or your inflamed sense of "morality". The choice you have here is whether you want to single-handedly be supporting all unwanted children in exchange for ending the horror of abortion. You get no other options.

"Pursue" them how? The worst that happens to deadbeat parents is they get thrown in jail. That does absolutely fucking nothing to mitigate the fact that you are speaking for the contents of my wallet with your sanctimonious, anti-choice obstructionism.

Uncle Albert disagrees: children raised as "consequences" leads to a shitty society.

I didn't say that. It's you, again, projecting your beliefs about people who are opposed to abortion. I said that people should take responsibility for their actions. If that bothers you then it's not me that has the problem.

Yes you fucking did. Your whole "evading the consequences of their actions" theme reeks of "punishment for being dirty hoors", whether you want to admit it or not.

Society needs parents who want their kids, not "parents" who grudgingly make the half-assed effort of keeping some delinquent brats alive because someone like you managed to convince them that they'd be evil and wrong for not trying to raise kids they don't want and can't afford.

Yes, ideally they wouldn't make the baby in the first place. But congratulating yourself for brilliantly pointing out this obvious fact doesn't change the reality of the situation.

You keep ignoring the part where, if a fetus is a person, abortion is murder. I'm not willing to condone murder for your convenience just because there's a welfare state neither of us like.

If a fetus isn't a person, then it doesn't matter in the slightest, and your position is the correct one.

"Murder", is a legalistic term come up with by human minds.

Biologically, killing is killing, but we don't lock people up for swatting mosquitoes.

Hell, RAID proudly makes products to kill thousands of fetal insects, so, there's no special magic around the idea of abortion.

Just the lifeforms we apply it to.

We made the whole thing up.
    As a matter of taste.
Based around our gut impulses as survival organisms.

It's your taste versus mine, s'all it is.

Me, I care more about the liberty of born people running around.
    But, that's just me.

I'm not ignoring it. That's irrelevant to my position. I'm just refusing to foot the bill for the "every zygote is sacred" crowd. You go on and guarantee every fetus is carried to term. Just don't look at me when the waiter brings the check. You do not get to have it both ways.

    Well, let's do.

If a baby is always a gift from God, then, is a rapist an agent of God?

It would kinda have to be the case, wouldn't it?

Can't pick and choose your gifts of God.

It would kinda devalue the whole thing.

But, if a rapist is an agent from God delivering his gifts...what exactly is bad about about rape?

And, what exactly separates this whole point of view from say, fundamentalist Islamic countries?

Yep. Rape babies are god's will. A rape baby with Down's Syndrome, AIDS and cancer is four times the "god's will" goodness. Questioning that just show's you're too ignorant to be faithful.
