Oldfella’s reason for making “jokes” about shit like this is so that he doesn’t have to take it seriously. If he had to take it seriously, that would require him to have some introspection about things. That’s too painful for him to do. So he makes “jokes” and then when firm evidence comes out about the thing, he can claim that he knew it all along.
I said pretty much everyone and that includes myself. I live vicariously through Forbin's dream stories. Side note I miss his commute videos! If he loved us he would buy a crappy car and drive around like a maniac for our entertainment.
Thanks Doctor Freud! Send me a bill, I don't have any cash on me today. BTW I got yer "firm evidence" right here.
Okay wordforge let's hear some theories! What is this RV bombing all about? Disgruntled ATT&T employee? Politically motivated terrorism? Religiously motivated terrorism? A "test run" for future attacks? None of the above? A combination of the above? Nothing is off the table.
I think it's way too early to tell. This person of interest might not pan out. AFAIK no group has claimed responsibility for it yet which is a little surprising.
Disgruntled AT&T employee would have strode into the lobby with an AR-15 and started shooting. Religiously motivated terrorism would have targeted a gay club, but maybe they just took a wrong turn and ended up in front of the AT&T building (unless their religion includes a belief that G5 towers are transmitting satanic brain-waves, in which case, maybe). On the basis of pure conjecture, I'll go with probably political terrorism of the "if we can't get the election overturned with dozens of lawsuits, we'll just blow up the Dominion conspirators, and if we can't do that, we'll just fuck up everybody's Internet so they can't follow our Master Plan [about equivalent to @Tererun's career as a Master Troll] to overthrow the Gubmint and install our Troo Leader!!!1" One thing predicates against that last one, which is the warning ahead of time with the intent of saving lives, but I'd weigh that against the demographics of the neighborhood. The RV seems to be pointing toward Trumpanism, but could it be a black flag op by the Filthy Libruls? BTW, @oldfella1962 - great questions! More posts like this, please!
Such wit & wisdom! Did you come up with that all on your own? I think I'll write down your stunning barb and save it for posterity.
Actually, I was responding to your hypotheses. I won't say they were all over the map - I'll say your questions covered a number of possibilities and I was responding to them. Do you suppose you could grant me the same courtesy?
Northern Ireland is not Ireland. That's the point, it's British territory, we occupied it for centuries. Now think about how easy it was to crush the Taliban, or the Iraqi insurgents.
I'm still leaning towards a leftist group, just looking at history, but I'm also thinking Qanon is a distinct possibility. The dramatic touch with the pre-recorded message seems kind of up their ally. At first, with the gunshots that started this all off (last I heard, they now think those were pre-recorded as well), I thought they might have been trying to suck in first responders for the explosion, but after hearing about how the perps seemed to go so far out of their way not to kill anyone now makes me think otherwise. Maybe the gunshots were just to wake everybody up for the warning message.
Yes I see. Sorry about that! Yes a disgruntled ATT&T employee taking out zero ATT&T workers since they weren't even in the building at the time would be ineffective. And true not many religious zealots are fans of gay clubs (they weren't open either at that time) but they could think G5 towers are Satanic. Bottom line at this point your money is on Trump supporters with two or more indicators.
Now, if this were the script for a thriller, it would be a right-wing group creating a black-ops situation that seemed to point toward a left-wing group utilizing the trappings (the RV) of a right-wing group. Thinking like a Wordsmith here. Cue @Tererun posting something stupid...
Side question: was it a leftist group, or a leftist acting alone? When I initially heard the part about gunfire I figured whomever blew up the RV fired shots (to get people's attention focused on the RV) then used another vehicle to depart the scene. But being pre-recorded would simplify the operation. I also think that the RV was detonated remotely but within eyesight of the RV, possibly from a rooftop or window with a direct view of the RV. Since not killing a lot of people seemed to be important, having a "set it & forget it" timed detonation would not work, because even with a loud verbal warning it's no guarantee that cops, bomb squad folks, or just curious but stupid people wouldn't get near it when it went BOOM. So I think it was detonated only when there was no doubt nobody was close enough. A recorded message and detonating the RV from inside would make sense if it was a suicide mission, so that would steer me toward religious extremism probably from a domestic Islamic convert. Then again suicide bombers quite often try to take out as many people as they can. It's pretty puzzling, so maybe the "person of interest" living in the Nashville area will pan out.
In my observation (as a Yank, but with Celtic ancestry, who was married to an Italian who, while he was completely innocent, "knew people who knew people" in the Bronx), there ain't that much difference between one terrorist group and another. For me, the Celts are scarier, because they don't need weapons other than their thick skulls and occasionally a broken bottle. Q.v. the Glasgow Kiss and the Glasgow Smile.
isn't "Whitey" kind of a redundant name for an Irish mobster? My wife's father (RIP) is Irish and he and all his relatives are some light skinned mo fo's.
It cracked me up when they found him hiding in plain sight in a hotel in Santa Monica not three miles from where I was living at the time. To his neighbors, he was just "some nice old guy."
You think there is a bar on WF? Standards? You fucking dolts thin k assy and garamet are smarties. This is a place that had dayton in discussions until very recently. How many years of destroying conversations did he have around here? Dude, if I want standards I go to places people around here couldn't contribute to. The only standards a dump has is the categories of garbage and where to dump it. You cannot on one hand say you are going to let people say almost anything with very little modding, and then say you have standards. Conversational standards involve moderation of people who contribute nothing, no9r have any ability to.
