Since that thread was locked, I will ask this here:

Are you saying that there is an option that allows one not to have their rep show up in the members' list even though it is on? No, I don't need to know what Shoes did or how he did it if that's a big secret, I'm just interested in knowing if this is a bug or if it's something someone can do voluntarily.

The option to display your rep or not is available in your usercp, under the "edit options" link on the left.

^ All that button does is turn reputation off, a good feature for "rep cowards".

When I turn mine on and off, I still show up in the member's list. MAOHS does not. Is there a way to not have your name show up in the member's list, or is this a bug?

I turned mine off for a moment and it didn't display on the members list. :clyde:

Weird. Mine still does. Rep becomes black, but my username is still there. Maybe I am the one with the bug.

Kinda like every workplace has a jerk or asshole in it. If yours doesn't have one, then it means YOU are it.

Yeah, my username still shows in the list. I thought we were talking about rep status.

MAOHS does not show up at all in the member's list. He should be below Mandi, but he is not.

But when you do that, your rep status is shown as a single grey square. As I said in the other thread, Shoes hasn't done that; his rep still shows the way it did before.

Clyde's response seems to imply that not showing up in the members' list has to do with "the details of his account," meaning that it is something he has done, or chosen to have done. I'm just wondering if I have correctly understood that, or if this is a bug.

    Given the options I'd say it's a bug. :)

Well, then, since I discovered it looking at the rep order and, in particular, why Shoes wasn't in there any more, can we name it the Asyncrishoes bug?

I've never had a bug named after me before. :)

Who is that guy who started the "alternate board" Volpone played around with?

    It's not a bug.

Shoes has apparently changed his e-mail address without verifying it...until he does, he is stuck in the "Users Awaiting E-mail Confirmation" usergroup...he's technically removed himself as a full member until he confirms his e-mail is legit.

Nothing to see here...move along... ;)

Generally speaking, editing ones account should be a private affair.

Too true, nothing to get hung up about.

Not a policy I'm aware of. Now, if I announced the new address...that would be a problem.

It's something everyone should be aware of: if you change your e-mail, you must verify the change or your account can be effected.

I think you have a point to a certain extent. The problem, as I see it though is that MAOHS, made a change to his email. I don't recall seeing him making any type of a post announcing the change. It seems that you have chosen to make something he did privately an open topic for discussion.

It is clear what happened. Apostle killed Shoes and stole his account. While we cannot have justice, we can at least ban them both. :?:

I thought you couldn't post if you changed your email and didn't verify it

Uh, no, she answered a question, I came in this thread to post the same response, and I'm not part of the administration. It's just a feature of the vBulletin software, if you change your e-mail address and don't verify it you don't show up on the member's list. It's the same reason MAOHS doesn't have any pips, because there are none associated with the "Users Awaiting E-Mail Confirmation" usergroup.

Is that why you have two green pips instead of the same pips that Lanzman and Tamar have? But, you still have access to areas of the board that the little people of WF do not.

Give me a break....there is privacy and then there is an unreasonable expectation of what should be considered privacy.

Posting his e-mail address is violating his privacy, clearly. Then there is answering a question about the board so people can understand. Revealing he changed his e-mail is not private information. If you expect every single action you make on the board to be a secret, that is unrealistic. I'm not going to avoid answering a reasonable question about the board in the Help Desk just so no one knows someone changed a detail about their profile...that is unrealistic and would be unfair to everyone who should know of this consequence if they fail to verify.
