You called for them to water the tree of liberty. Do you want them to tickle everyone to death? Stab them? Hire Syrians to do it?
Right now, I’m reading this post and imagining Chris Hayes or Rachael Maddow frothing at the mouth making this speech in an attempt to make some kind of profound point that is based on emotion and not logic. Right now, John is peeing his pants and drowning in tears because the evil Republicans won’t ban a scary looking gun and do, “the right thing”. Whatever that is.
So you have an imagination that works better than @Robert E Ron Paul Lee's. If I were you, I'd use that to dredge up some kind of personality to go with your unearned condescension.
Amaris did you take your whole diatribe from an episode of "GLEE"? Because it sounds like something they'd say.
Is it? I don't watch Glee, so I wouldn't know. If they did say that, though, that's pretty damned awesome that they would care about the nation enough to speak the words of Thomas Jefferson. I mean, you can shit on it all you want, but who gives a fuck, really? You're a part of the generation that dropped this goose egg on everyone. They don't need you. You need them, though. Also, when did you start watching Glee? I ask because how would you know that sounds like something they would say?
Just saw some woman on the news (a politician I think) saying that bump stocks turn a semi-automatic into fully automatic. The host tried to tactfully set her straight but she wasn't understanding him.
whoa Amaris it was a joke. No I don't watch GLEE but my daughter used to. I would however bone most of the chicks on there especially Leah Michelle! Anyway yes, my generation (I'm 55 so I guess I fall barely into the baby boomer age) has fucked up the US, if not the entire Western Hemisphere! You're welcome, BTW. Yes, this is a great opportunity for you young people to turn lemons into lemonade, but because you are so awesome it will be a cakewalk I'm sure.
Okay snowflake, we'll stop saying the scary word 'ban' since it is obviously triggering for y'all. But if it gets too much you've got the safe space of Camp Wordforge.
Your outrage would be more believable if it was directed as well at the Sheriff (who ignored all the warnings) and his officers (who just stood by while Innocents were slaughtered.) But no, you want to jump on the fact that legislators didn't want to waste time by pulling a lefty bill so that gun grabbers could bloviate on the house floor about guns. Screw that. In the meantime, both the Governor and the house speaker have offered comprehensive bills that will be moved thru the floor in the next couple of weeks. No doubt, lefties will ignore all of it to bitch some more about guns. http://www.tampabay.com/florida-pol...t-proposes-450-million-school-safety-program/ Question: Why ARE you guys ignoring the failures of the Sheriff of Broward County in this tragedy? Is it because he's progressive and dead children mean less to you than partisan loyalty?
You seem to be asking me to lay out a plan for you about how these high school students might challenge the presiding government. Is that correct? I like how you accept responsibility for fucking up the country, but then you add a condescending statement about how we'll have to clean it up. Your cynicism is only matched by your ignorance and culpability. I don't give a fuck what you think.
Call me what you like. If the agenda to stop school shootings includes the word "ban," I'll be opposing rather than supporting it. And anyone who claims they're not coming after lawful exercise of gun rights should have no problem with that.
http://thehill.com/homenews/campaig...florida-shooting-survivor-in-email-asking-for Time to start a Paladin isn't overjoyed with Trump megathread?
1. I'm not sure I'm all that upset with Trump on the issue of guns. What he's proposed thus far doesn't irk me too much. If bump stocks went away, oh, well, they're pernicious novelties at best; my only concern would be keeping the regulation that outlaws them from being drafted overly broadly. Better background checks? They should be made better, because they're absolutely failing to accomplish anything with regards to mass shooters. Raising the age to buy certain guns? Eh, that's probably my only sore point, as it's a continuation of the trend of extending childhood into one's early twenties. 2. I don't approve of using people--particularly children--involved in these tragedies for political purposes. If the person involved wishes to become active, that's okay.
You're quite right in calling me out. Let me be clear: I meant I would oppose banning any guns, not bump stocks so long as the regulation wasn't overly broad.
Fair enough. So I take it that means you are in favor of the restrictions on fully automatic weapons?
And I don't give a fuck what you think either. So what. Question remains, Why are you guys ignoring the failures at the local level that could have stopped this shooting from happening?
I didn't ignore anything. You made the assumption and then dropped it on me. Hence why I didn't give a fuck what you thought on it, because you started from a flawed premise and had no intention of giving a shit what I had to say about it, as you indicate above.
I have no problem with the existing regulatory scheme for automatic weapons. I'd like the law that prohibits civilians from owning any made after '86 to be repealed, but that's not a hill I'm going to die on in the near future. If you mean bump stocks, I won't be too bent out of shape if they're outlawed. As I said, they're mainly novelties.
I thought after Las Vegas we learned bump stocks can be easily made, am I remembering that correctly?
Cool. Given that you are against lots of firearm regulation (correct me if I'm wrong on that) how did you choose to draw your line in not having any problem with those regulations?
These poor grieving kids. Their whole media tour sure is cutting in on the psychological trauma they went through when they were being shot at and their friends were being murdered .Shouldn't they be I dunno .... Sad... And not pawns of a political agenda . I had a cousin who went to a school of 3,000 kids and every time there was a tragedy he used it to get out of school and pretend to be their closest friend to go to the funeral and skip class.
All you've talked about is the guns. Thats all your rants have been focused on hence my question. Do you even have an opinion on the other aspects of this shooting or are you just going to continue to be a typical partisan chickenshit?
All I've talked about is guns? Really? Also, you're saying I'm a typical partisan chickenshit, and it's the funniest fucking thing because I've already indicated that I find both parties are full of shit at this point. Get a new shtick. Oh, and the officers and Sheriff who stood outside while kids were slaughtered inside the school were fucking cowards.
The full auto restrictions (a product of the National Firearms Act, or NFA) are very long-standing, going back decades before my time, so it's never been a pressing issue for me. Anyway, I don't have any problem with full-auto weapons being subjected to tighter controls, simply because the potential for their destructive misuse is so much higher. However, a person with a clean record, who has the right license, who pays the tax, and who successfully undergoes the hard-and-deep background check required, should be able to get one. As for bump stocks, I think they're of very little value for defense; they're mainly novelties, and I think most of the gun guys here agree. Also, we've seen one put to exceptionally pernicious (mis)use in Las Vegas. Would I rather they stay legal? Sure. Am I going to fight to the death for them? No. I don't have much argument for them beyond "they're a shitload of fun!"
