In my defence, reading requires there to be actual words on the page. You? It's like a Rorschach test only the image is clearly the result of projectile diarrhoea after a curry and ten shots of Jagermeister.
Huh. Okay, well as much as I dislike the Erdogan regime, and Turkey's policy toward the Kurds, I still consider Putin's Russia a greater threat to the world. I was just wondering if that was the "delusion" you meant.
Are you saying what we think is happening in Northern Syria right now isn't really happening, that it is happening but it's all Obama's fault, or a combination of the two?
Is there any doubt why Putin backed Trump? What does "no collusion" matter if he's openly acting in Russia's interests?
Natural first step. Removal of those nukes is overdue. Next on the list: remove the US bases. [And smile and say nice things about Erdogan.] Time will tell how Euroland responds.
Well, I'm not going to argue with anything that looks like a rollback of nuclear deployments, the question really becomes about Turkeys' place in NATO if it firing on its' allies.
I guarantee you this is why Mattis left. He knew this was coming. He could only stop it for so long. I feel like I'm jinxing myself. I've watched this administration move from one debacle to another over the last three years and I've wondered how it could continue to get worse and worse. It's like they've heard me and they've accepted it as a challenge.
It's been less than a week and we civilians don't have a clue what's going on, and nobody knows what will actually happen. Our only source of info is what some other people think. Many of those people - often the "best informed" about something - have been consistently wrong about everything they've ever said. Does that sound like a rational time to conclude with an opinion? Maybe the country's better off without a top military adviser with advice that is always more US troops in harm's way. How many US lives is the Kurdish alliance worth? Did we ever get a number of "acceptable" body bags? [Bet you Henry Kissinger would have a number.]
We've lost 4 soldiers in Northern Syria. The Kurds have been doing all of the heavy lifting and dying.
...and just like that, the United States of America just officially ceded the roll of the world’s only Super Power as a force for good. Edit: I hope the leadership in Taiwan is taking note and considering “other options.” Edit 2: Thank God the French didn’t hold that attitude in 1778.
In fact, of all the "endless wars" in the M.E. for us to pull out of, Syria is the most mind boggling. We weren't getting any better bang for the buck. Minimal monetary cost, minimal boots on the ground, minimal casualties of our own forces, minimal training needs...and the Kurds were doing all of the work. All we had to do was keep the Turks off their backs while they killed ISIS for us.
Looks to me like the new Syrian border battle in coming weeks will be comprised of Turks against Russia-backed Syrians. I prefer the idea of Turks and Syrians shooting at each other without US soldiers in the middle of that. I'm also more than a little curious how we differentiate with any confidence which Kurds are on our terror lists and which are our allies that we now "betrayed."
The PKK are on the terror list...not the Peshmerga...and there wouldn't be a fight between them if we'd have done what we promised we'd do. That was one of the more stable places in the Middle East because of our presence there. And I'm guessing by using the quotes, you don't think we betrayed the Kurds?
^All my info is second-hand, Shoes, and I mistrust from experience those claiming today they are right. If the situation is the worst case in which it's been portrayed it would be a terrible betrayal. [Same as if Trump did worst case of what Shiff pretended he did.] I never heard the promises supposedly made, by whom, and to whom they were made. Yeah, I get the tripwire function. I'm concerned of its value. Was our obligation just for the lives of the Kurds to whom past leaders made promises, or in perpetuity? Was it until the formation of a Kurdish homeland? Was it until we provided safe relocation for all Kurds and emptied the prisons? Or is the 'obligation' simply listen to the consensus of guesstimates of generals when we're a civilian-led government and military?
It's value was that it's why the Caliphate isn't there anymore...you know...that think that Trump took all the credit for? And I'm guessing you think it's sound foreign policy to fuck over allies once we've gotten what we wanted out of them?
Sounds pretty wrong to me. Sounds just like you have the opinions assigned to you by your choice of information source(s), selective though it must be.
Fog of war. Don't have a clue. For you to assign an opinion to me about fucking over allies couldn't be more untrue. If that's how it turns out I'd be among the first demanding Trump resign. Could very well turn out to be beneficial to the long term interests of the Kurds. Could turn out to be a lot of things, very few of which may even be knowable at the present time.
Be hard without the US involved. Three gulf wars, or is it four now. Nothing close to WW. In a perfect world I'd prefer no war, but right after that prefer war between Russians and Turks and Syrians with the US on the sidelines. Be happy for the US to slaughter Isis again, if it comes up.
same old story - the search for hidden Nazi gold! This whole twisted she-bang is a smokescreen, a red herring. And I'm the kooky mug who's loopy enough to blow the lid off this pot of retard stew.
