People who had lots of friends and fun in high school have liberal political leanings. People who were miserable in high school are miserable, miserly adults. That makes sense.
"If you're not a liberal at 20, you have no heart, and if you're not a conservative at 40, you have no head."-- Winston Churchill
Yea, but Churchill was known to drain a glass or two. He was also known for some very witty comebacks - "suck my dick", "eat it raw, fuzznuts" and "what are you staring at, homo?" If your Churchill quote is, indeed, accurate, I'd put as much stock in it, as I'd put in anything anyone said here on wordforge ...
He's an English hero, though. I wonder what the crowd from the other side of the pond think of his perspective.
I know who he is. I just think that statement is self-congratulatory and I'm not buying it. At 46, I'm still liberal and I do still possess an above average level of intelligence.
At 20 I couldn't have told you the difference between a Democrat and a Republican. I had no care for politics. In fact, my current lack of apathy I blame entirely on Bill Clinton.
Oh, yeah. High school was meh but college (starting only 3 months later, fer crying out loud) was an awesome experience. Life continued to get better from then on.
Are you sure of that or is it just your opinion? Because if it is true, god help anyone with a below average level of intelligence.
What do you want me to say? do you want the scores of my latest IQ test? What about my current GPA? A copy of the letter I just recieved from college I'm attending inviting me to join some honor society fraternity? Would any of those things change your opinion of my intelligence? Better yet, does your opinion have any affect on whether or not my bills get paid or how happy I am in life?
Does it? Skin busted his ass in high school, between coursework and a full time job. That didn't leave a lot of time for socializing. Skin's not really all that social, anyway, and can take company or leave it. That lack of co-dependence doesn't seem, to Skin at least, to be the source of the least bit of 'misery' or 'miserliness' whatsoever. Of course, being as you're genetically aberrant, it's no wonder you can't fathom an existence of such sublime freedom.
The fact that you feel so defensive of your position over a completely ridiculous assertion speaks more about how you feel than my statement does.
Actually, it's the ones who are socially active AND suffer from this genetic deficiency who wind up liberal. Those without the genetic flaw wind up normal and functional.
OK. Now I really, really want to meet someone with a 90-99 IQ. I'm intrigued--in a slowing down to look at a car wreck sort of way.
That appears to be a polite way of saying "learning to feel safe in large numbers." It certainly would explain American liberals' feelings toward expanding the federal government at the cost of state and individual rights.
Very funny. I posted it over in TNZ to rile up the masses. I'm sure I'll get an interesting response.
Taking into account that you're neither particularly bright nor particularly ethical, Skin takes that statement as high compliment.
