The debate is pretty much a picture of how the health care debate goes nationwide both in Canada and the US.

Facts to begin with, then followed with a bunch of soundbites between the same two people, with everyone else leaving to find something else to do.

No wonder nothing is ever solved.

    Why not?
You claim to get the whole story from your government.

    There's some details too.

Higher mortality rate of children from a US society with more "right wing" religious types who preserve life against economic or mathematical or emotional costs. That lowers the average life expecancy.

Higher costs related to more illegals that overstates the national costs, or if illegals are factored in/included as people, then the higher proportion of immigrants that brought their inferior stats along with them (e.g. refugees from poor diet in southern shitholes have lower individual life expectancy that brings down nat'l avg.).

Ditto the U.S. legal immigrants, with by far more liberal immigration policy over past decades than any of the counterparts against which US is typically measured. Immigrants disproportionately raise mortality rates.

And good lord, for all we know people who come to US for hospice or expensive high-end cancer etc. treatments might be include in US mortality rates too, don't recall data on that kind of item.

More self indulgents richies (Steve Jobs must've spent 1000s of people worth of health care in his final 12 mos on earth) raise avg costs disproportionate to quality of care.

As you said more simply, UA, they're not fair comps.

[Oh, and how many ounces of meat are they given in Cuva in recent years per month, what is it 4 oz or something? Per month? A big mac a month worth of meat to eat? Beans beans beans rest of time? Fuck the extra year or two, I'll trade.]

Post #87. Need some help finding it?

You made the statement. Clearly you can't back it up, so you resort to this nonsense.

You're an idiot. Resources are finite and distributed in a time frame based on first come first serve and/or the severity of the problem. You want an MRI for a fucking hangnail? Fine, you're gonna have to wait a few weeks, there's a list of people who might have tumors who need to go first because fuck you, you whiny, entitled piece of shit nobody.

It's a metaphor, which you knew already. :brood:

Are you disputing that everyone is guaranteed the same mediocre level of care in UHC countries, while being generously given permission to pile on the extra expense if they want the "Cadillac" level of attention?

A metaphor with no basis in reality. Which will not stop you from using it over and over and over again as a creative way of saying "I DON' WAAAAHNAAA!" :aurora:

Right. No basis. Not even the article you posted yourself. :brood:

Let me guess, you're not accepting the extra wait and inconvenience as evidence of mediocre care.

That's right, they're "working on that." :dayton:

No, unlike you, I understand what Chad posted. The patient suspected of having a fast-growing cancer will be scheduled for a scan before the patient with an ingrown toenail. Therefore, the guy with the toenail's gonna have to wait a little longer.

That's not even addressing personnel shortages and the reasons for them.

If you don't understand something as basic as that, the more complex issues will zip right by you.

No, I'd never be so gullible as to expect any more honesty out of the USGov than the Cuban one.
    Just wondering if you are?

    On your personal note-

You haven't advanced any in existing as a grown up either, have you?
Still just an entitled, selfish brat with less ambition than a cat in a sunbeam who won't acknowledge the benefits he receives. Looking for fights where none exist...

Bitchtits, you're a miniscule part of a machine, and a miserable one at that. For all you rag on me, I'm definitely better off than you despite the lows I live through. Fuck, with the new jerb (where I work when I feel like), I'm probably making more money these last few months while not having to deal with fucktard cubicle martinets like you. Christ, but you're not even a tool. At least that implies some usefulness rather than your parasitic existence overseeing of those who actually produce something.:finger:

Reasons like how much they can charge, what treatments they may offer, and to whom?

And spare me the canned bullshit about private insurers doing that, too. You can't drop one government plan in favor of another.

Oh, now you're talking about the Government Plan That Doesn't Exist Yet, but you just know it'll suck. Sorry, Miss Cleo, I thought we were talking about why there's a shortage of trained MRI techs in the U.S. Real Time...

What did the article you posted have to do with it?

It's curious how you're suddenly unable to deal with anything outside of that narrow scope. It's almost as if something came up that you were unable to deal with.

"What we have now: Some people can afford Cadillacs, but many others can't afford a car at all. The rest of us are in the middle somewhere, buying mid-range cars and hanging onto them as long as we can keep them running. "

A luxury car is a discretionary expenditure. Health care to save your life is not, and if you aren't insured and can't afford it--as 60 million Americans can't now--you may die. 75,000 people who could easily be saved each year, die needlessly because they can't afford the care that would save them. Not my reckoning, the reckoning of the federal Health and Human Services Department.

    The Cadillac analogy fails.

It's funny how they'll argue exactly the same thing as a rationale for not providing health insurance. It goes something along the line of "A car is a discretionary expense but - but - well, nobody asked to be born, and you're not entitled to health, and people get sick because they make stupid choices and - and - and..."

    :jayzus:

As for the thousands who die every year, they don't care. If Joe Blow dies of pneumonia, that means Uncle Albert has less competition at the next job interview.

No it doesn't. You're just pretending a bunch of emotional sentimentality somehow invalidates the fact that health care is a consumer good like any other. This is not a special subject that is somehow immune to free association or supply and demand.

By that logic, government should manage everything you can argue you need to survive. Guess what? I didn't ask for you to be born, either. If that gets you off the hook for the cost of your own existence, it absolves me, too.

You have no idea what you just did, do you?

The "nobody asked to be born" argument is from your side.

How you rationalize that to "government should manage everything" should be very entertaining.

You mean what you imagine I have done based on your own imaginary conditions.
    :dayton:

I am my side. I have not made that argument, and nobody speaks for me.

I don't rationalize it. I reject it outright. But it is still the logical extension of the excuse for being entitled to medical care. "I didn't ask to be born, so it's not my fault that I need it."

Just as soon as you show me where I claimed that was meant to be a literal example.

Until then, I direct you back to this quote from the article you posted yourself:

So, an adequate tier of care available to everyone, at the expense of rendering some people less able to afford the top tier. Hondas for everyone instead of Cadillacs for a few.
