It might surprise you to find that I think nearly everyone has some level of privilege and blind spots to the ways in which they're complicit in oppression, minorities included. I've lost track of the times I've had conversations with other black folks using our history with discrimination as a crutch for why they can't possibly support gays or bring attention to the fact that trans black women have the highest murder rates among trans people in general when talking about BLM.

What I don't do is stay silent and make excuses about "that's just the way it is, they don't know better " Now they do, and can do with the knowledge what they will but I won't contribute to the culture of ignorance in a space where I'm more likely to be listened to than a white queer person, for example.

I genuinely appreciate this, though I do have to say that it's not the state whom I want to own the means of production, but the workers themselves. The people who produce the goods should share in the economic benefit of manufacturing those goods (or services) rather than that money being funneled up into the pockets of those who use it as "passive income." Out of curiosity, I clicked on the New York Post article that had the author reaching for his or her smelling salts. I'm hard-pressed to find anything in the literature the principal sent out that's incorrect, or that is beyond the capacity of a typical adult to comprehend.

You are lying, or at least misleading, about this when you label it as something that "USA Today said" rather than "Christopher Rufo" said.

Now normally, I am not going to knock something just because of its origins. But I will make an exception in this case where Chris Rufo has, as I believe has been shown elsewhere in this thread, essentially admitted that he has overhyped the notion of critical race theory being taught in K-12 schools as a political wedge issue.

Even if I were inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt, the notion that he links almost exclusively to things he has written as opposed to anything from the schools themselves or from potentially neutral parties would give me pause.
