I'm headed there unfortunately, but for different reasons. I'm sure the place will be packed with chicken littles.
It was surprisingly calm. We did have a contest of how many bags of rice you can carry, which reminds me that I need to start working out again.
I buy that kinda stuff in bulk anyways. I keep 10lbs each of all-purpose flour, cane sugar, and enriched long-grain white rice in plastic airtight containers.
Thankfully, I don't use a whole lot of sugar. Remember, my dad's a Type I diabetic. When I was growing up, we didn't have sugar in our house. I use the generic brand of Splenda in my tea, coffee, and when I'm cooking.
^^ I drink sweet tea [I almost typo'd that as "sweat" tea ] like a fiend. I can easily drink three or four gallons of it over the course of a weekend. Our friends refer to our pantry (which is huge) as the "Y2K Closet" because of all the food items stored there. The funny thing is that we normally don't eat a lot of rice, but since I've heard about this shortage, I've been thinking that I should go out and buy a few big bags of it.
If worse comes to worse I will go live in my picnic house on my farm. I have a lake well stocked with fish, forests abundant with game, and can easily plant a big garden. Also, I've... buried certain things around the farm.
