So far it's very fun, done the cell phase and up to the land stuff.

Still playing it up to the city point,tribal phase wasn't very deep but the civ seems to be making up for that now.

Don't waste a potential gift on Mass Effect. It's a game that sold well because of its pedigree, not because of its quality. Rather than trying to do one thing well, it did twenty things in a barely passable manner.

Don't listen to just one opinion either, Baba. I liked Mass Effect quite a bit, enjoyed the plot and characters as well as the gameplay.

Oh god it just crashed after i spent 3 hours fighting off attacks and wiping out a race who would not die, just got them down to there last outpost and bang game crashed on me

Restarted from the start again as the crash messed up the save file.

Made a race called the "Ancients" on the planet Lantea.

Also found out how to wipe out other empires in one go.

Just was at the store buying a fridge with my GF, and I saw it on the shelf. Against my better judgement (I'm swamped with work/class recently), I picked up a copy. About to install it. I'll only play a little bit then get back to work... really...

Do the evolutions you have when you exit the creature phase have any bearing on what happens afterwards? (besides appearance)? Just before tribal phase, I ended up with a fugly looking creature (because I had a good ability layout). Then I got to tribal phase and saw that I was apparently stuck with a lame monster.

Yeah they sort of guide you (that and the play style up to that point) in to what consequence traits your race has.

also unlocks the super weapon for that trait.

Think i found foils race when it was at a early stage, it's called the Gaunius right?

Also just got back from a three hour round trip to the centre of the galaxy.

Yep green skinny dragon , dropped a monolith on the planet and left them to get on it, 1 hour, 40 mins (2 million years) later they had space ships.

I'm 'faisent' if anyone wants to add me. On my work PC or I'd post a screeny of the dread Duckosaur - nastiest herbivore on my world at least. I had bunches of fun making friends with all the "rogue" critters and then sending them after any other critters that thought Duckosaurs tasted like chicken. I made friends about half the time and killed off anything that didn't want to be friendly with me.

I just went to tribal so I haven't done anything with that yet, but I can't wait.

I think my next critter will be some type of squid monster if I can figure it out.

Ok Foil here's a pic of your race, they have spread out to around seven systems next door to me after i wiped out a few races that didn't want to trade with me.

They just asked for five million, said no and now i think i'm going to have to crack there homeworld in two.

I'm not real impressed. Making creatures is fun and all, but Just when you start having fun in cell mode, you go to creature mode, and just when you start getting into creature mode, it moves on to tribal, etc.
