I do know how this can work. If you rewatch TWoK, you'll quickly notice that the film is a study in contrasts. For example, Saavik points out that when a Federation starship encounters another vessel which refuses to respond to messages, regulations call for the shields to be raised (and Spock replies with, "Lieutenant, the Admiral is quite aware of regulations." though Kirk is silent), while in a similar scenario when Joachim offers Khan advice, Khan shoots him down directly. So, imagine the first episode is the Federation encountering an unknown species, and trying to figure out how to establish relations with them, the second episode is the Klingons encountering an unknown species and instead of trying to establish relations with them, proceeds to beat the dogshit out of them. Think of TWoK over an entire season, instead of a 2 hour movie, and you'll have an idea. Not saying that this is what they're going to do, just that it isn't a total fail from the get-go as described by people who are totally unconnected to the series and could be completely (if not probably) talking out of their asses.
I don't care what the hell it is. If Klingons are gonna be the heavy focus of the show, I got burned out a long ass time ago.
I'll give it a shot too, but I'm not paying for All Access and I'm so sick of Klingons. They really should have gone a different route.
Sasha from TWD won't be killed off, they'll juggle her between the two shows. http://www.darkhorizons.com/how-walking-dead-will-handle-sasha/
This is basically going to be a Star Trek series as seen by the network that is king of police procedurals........
Well, remember how AMC used to be a classic movie channel, therefore they were completely unable to make shows, and now The Walking Dead doesn't exist, and Breaking Bad never happened? Remember that? And remember how MTV used to be music videos, therefore reality TV never sprung from its loins? Remember that? Yep, those things happening sure give Dayton a fair point.
Don't be jerks you two. You two just can't keep personal animosity confined to the Red Room can you..
I didn't attack you, I deconstructed your point. Just because I'm goddamned good at it, and blast a bad argument with a pie Gatling gun, doesn't make it personal.
Of course you would claim that. Because we know that I'm never subject to personal attacks on wordforge..............
Just cuz you're dumb as shit, a racist, and likely an autistic doesn't mean you're subject to personal attacks.
What attack? I just didn't see how two and two added up here. Regardless of my reservations for the premise, this is as good as it'll get for Trek: support from a major network, while airing via streaming that'll allow for more flexibility in filming the types of stories the producers want.
We don't have a choice as to who gets to produce Trek. It's common knowledge at this point that UPN actively worked to dumb Trek down to the lowest common denominator, so anything that is the opposite of the Voyager/Enterprise treatment is fine with me.
How would what we've heard so far about Discovery be the "opposite" of the Voyager/Enterprise treatment? ' I've got to say that the "hey look! Klingons!" does not fill me with amazement at Discovery's brilliant writing and innovative storylines........
There's no Boy Band of the Week idea floating about for one. Like I said, I'm not thrilled with the Klingon stuff, but that's just *my* bias. That doesn't mean it'll bomb out just on that premise.
