There is something I would like to see. Pretty much all of Trek has shown that anyone in Starfleet is good at what they do, and that they are for the most part a success. Even Barclay, he may have some social and personal issues, but he's still a genius. I'd love to see autistic Vulcans, flamboyantly gay Klingons and so on.
Who said gay Klingons can't or wouldn't want to be warriors too? That said, I'm burned out on the warrior Klingons trope and I'm find with it being put to rest.
Not quite what I meant. I meant a Klingon against type. Alexander was portrayed in DS9 as just that, and was seen by Worf & Co to be a failure. There was a whole episode based around it.
http://www.darkhorizons.com/star-trek-discovery-to-have-a-female-lead/ New Captain likely to be a black woman. Before the backwards whining starts...two names... Nichelle Nichols Magde Sinclair
A black female lead? I think that is a bad decision. The target demographics for Star Trek is nerds and geeks. They're not going to want to watch a black woman captain.
Hmm. Well, they're not likely to get Viola Davis. How about her predecessor in the role of Amanda Waller: Angela Bassett? Not against a black female captain, but I think they should keep it open. They should get the biggest name (white, black, male, female, whatever) they can get to be the lead.
People put up with Janeway as captain. That doesn't mean that people really liked the character. You know as well as I do she is one of the most despised characters in Star Trek.

And, we've got the timeline. 10 years before TOS. http://spinoff.comicbookresources.c...very-set-10-years-before-the-original-series/
Okay, now someone good with Photoshop add Angela Bassett and the Discovery to this, and we're good to go.
...wait...do they mean 10 years before "Where No Man Has Gone Before", or 10 years before "The Cage"? Because, there's 11 years between those... I'm gonna assume they mean "The Cage".
