    :wtf:

Enterprise was complete piss, and most people already knew that. You honestly think you affected anyone's opinion? Stewey had far more well thought out point than I'm sure you ever did, but his constant bitching pput off those that agreed with him.

    As yours does now.

You were able to get Enterprise canceled?

So then I was able to get Clinton elected to a second term.

:wtf: ENT was cancelled because the president of UPN didn't like sci-fi, and for very little else.

Well, apart from consistently terrible rating that kept declining. The show was doomed after its second season but because it was Star Trek, the linchpin of Paramount, they got a shot at a retooled third season. Season four was a DOA swan song to get enough episodes to sell the DVDs to Trekkies.

Well, there was that...but a show dipping below the 2.0 mark is gonna be a hard sell to keep around, even on UPN.

Last time he said anything about it, he didn't want to pay to see it in 3D and he had his wife with him which he found embarrassing.

As I recall, BSG had comparable ratings at the time and was able to go on for quite a while longer, in spite of some abuse from SyFy, whose president likewise had a distaste for sci-fi.

Look at the TrekBBS old threads from around 2001.

Fans were all over themselves gushing about Enterprise before it premiered.

They were gushing over the novelty of having a prequel.

They were gushing over having an "establish sci fi genre actor" (Scott Bakula) as the lead actor.

They were gushing over having a series set aboard a starship named Enterprise again.

In fact didn't some openly refer to them as "gushers".

I was (one of) the first fans there to raise reservations about Enterprise both before it premiered and with the problems I saw in the first season.

By the second season, lots of others posting were echoing my same opinions.

And when Enterprise was on the ropes, the guy who ran the TrekBBS was being asked his opinion about the problems with the series given that the TrekBBS had become the center of lots of dissatisfaction with the series.

So yeah, I think I played a role there. Perhaps a tenth of one percent but every little bit helps.

    Ok, yeah no.

You were less influential than the token idiot used for a sound bite on the local news. You simply held an opinion that concurred with opinions of others. Christian Höhne Sparborth (the owner of TBBS) was asked for HIS opinion, not your opinion. Are you really deluded enough to believe that you even had a 0.001 bit of influence on the decision to cancel Enterprise?

People didn't change their minds because of you - they changed their minds because they'd watched the show for a while and saw how much it sucked for themselves.

Before the prequel idea came about, I saw an archived article about how the show might take place in the 29th century. Half the posters just about flippped their shit.

Then, when series V was confirmed to be a prequel, the other half lost theirs

Why wouldn't they. I don' read the Trek books, but I'm sure there were a lot of holes to be filled between the birth of the Federation and Kirk taking the Enterprise.

Scott Bakula is a decent actor who got a raw deal with a character that was written all over the place. And frankly, before Trek, many fans of his had never know anyone to say a bad word about his acting (or at least, the types of comments he was getting at the height of the Archer bashing--but a lot of that had to do with nerds looking down on other nerds, except for shipping :borg: )

Seems like an obvious ploy to get new viewers to Trek. If not for that, we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Honestly, if these were the things that put you off to Enterprise initially, then you're as superficial as you accuse JJTrek fans of being. The show was not without it's problems, but it wasn't naming the ship Enterprise or going with an albeit horrible theme song with lyrics or even being a prequel that turned folks off to it.

    So what?

Again, he's the owner of the largest Star Trek online community, outside of possible the official website itself.

^Having the ship named "Enterprise" was fine. Great idea.

Having the ship look so closely like an existing ship in the Trek franchise that thousands of Star Trek fans already recognized that was a major mistake...and then publicly blowing off those fans...was a huge mistake. It showed a lack of care and concern for the all important details in producing a new series.

I complained early on that Bakula was simply wrong for the role of a Star Trek "commanding officer" because his most well known role (Quantum Leap) he was basically a "lone wolf" type of character who had to improvise and muddle through on the fly. Not necessarily the character type you would want leading a crew.

Then once Enterprise premiered, its flaws became obvious. Though gushers were still around for a couple of seasons.

New bsg had great critic and fan reviews. I also agreed with Ron Moore when he did that interview with what was wrong with Star Trek. New bsg had great actors too like olmos and Mary. Tom skerit was in the consideration for Adama too. Set the standards for hdtv.

    It's Dayton, but yes.

So you had an opinion about the show that was shared by others, you did not influence them, you merely shared the same opinion. But you think you were "fairly successful" in having the show canceled. You said said it yourself.

You have an incredibly overblown opinion of yourself. The show was canceled for several reasons and I guarantee none of the reasons included Dayton L. Kitchens from Bumblefuck Arkansas does not like it was one of the reasons.

I was one of only a handful warning that Enterprise was garbage early on.

Most people did not start agreeing with that until well into the second season.

It is foolish to suggest that one persons opinion does not influence others.

By the way "eddie". You (among others) who enjoy belittling and insulting Arkansas seemed to have forgotten that the first Democratic president who served two terms since FDR was Bill Clinton.

Who was born and raised in roughly the same "Bumblefuck, Arkansas".
