Pylons need shortening, then it'd be OK.

I'm not at all a fan of the design of the ship. Like, I am an anti-fan. Yuck.

Nah, that fugly bastard is beyond hope.

But it won't affect my enjoyment of the show in any way, assuming the show is actually good.

I think the "fugliness", adds to the humor of the premise.

"Oboy! It's Picard and the Enterpri....oh...:sigh:".

It feels slightly better if you look at it upside down. More Reliant-y.

One theory I read about the stardrive section being separated like this is that is literally where the "lower decks" crew is at. They live and work in that section, whereas the bridge officers, doctors, and families live in the saucer section.

I can see the showrunners saying to the production team: "Okay, we have to make the ship look like canon... but it also has to be fugly as hell."

(Although they probably didn't use the word "canon".)

I’d like to point out that this show makes the Holodeck Jizz Mopper canon.

not that I much care about this but one dude on you tube was speculating that the ship design suggested a "warp sled" type of arrangement which to my mind suggests that the (supposed) sled bit underneath isn't manned and would only need a visit to repair something that fucked up

Can I talk to you about the church of James T Kirk and LDS?

That trailer looks fun, and seems to have an appreciation for the franchise. Not expecting greatness, but don't know why people are tearing their hair out.

In all honesty, the more I see of this the worse it looks, from the horrible art and animation style to the overall design. Luckily it will be on a streaming service I don't have, so I won't worry about it.

All that matters to me is if the stories are good, and the jokes land.
And like I said before, I'll give it leeway to struggle for the first couple episodes or so, cuz Futurama and Orville struggled at first too.

The thing LDS has over those other two, is it has the Trek canon to play around in and reference without having to play copyright-dodge games.
They can just go right in and do it.
Tribbles? Klingons? Khan? They can use the real things.

As for the style, Trek has never drastically varied its style before, so you're just not used to it.
Star Wars did the Boba-Fett Nelvana cartoon right away, so when Ewocks, Droids, and finally Clone Wars came, it was no big deal.
