Well, I'm not at home to prove you wrong, but I've run through it more than once, and the last time I brought another player along.
May have to try clicking "stop being reviewer" and then "become reviewer" again. Also re-logging. I swear the fucking thing is published. I was up until 2am Sunday morning building it.
Shit, I'll fix that in a second. *edit #2* I don't know what to tell ya, kids. It's right freaking there. "Hail Starfleet" mission window -> "review content" button, search for "assault."
It was apparently approved for the main community-authored section now. Someone who presents themself as female played it and thought it was sexist.
It's released now. You want the button above "review content". Eight or nine people have played and reviewed it so far, so the shit is there.
Just going from memory here at work. Mostly favorable but not glowing. One guy said it crashed his system, but since it was only him I'm going to assume he has a crappy computer. Someone who at least presents themself as female called it "sexist." Guess "she" didn't get the humor. Another dude didn't like how I had the Borg Queen doing the robot on the Defiant bridge. Tough shit. The rest are more in the "decent to pretty good" range, with a few complaints about how close the Undine are to the spawn point in the final battle. Again, tough shit.
Damn right I did. It's fairly long and elaborate, too. I don't even want to admit how long it took me last weekend. Still, I've got some ideas for a continuation. Maybe I'll put out serial "episodes" like Cryptic does. Next time I see anyone online, I'll try to point it out to them.
Today's patch screwed up UGC/The Foundry. According to the patch notes, you have to sign up to review UGC content again or the new stuff won't show. I'm logging in now and I'm going to play Albert's mission if I can find it.
It broke for me. I finished the Risa part (defeat 5 mobs). I ran up to the "Civilian Transporter Console" and clicked it. It restored the link to my ship and told me I could beam up when ready. The mission then stopped. I go no button telling me to click to beam up, no dialog boxes, no nothing. So, I clicked the manual beam up button (Had to do that on a few Cryptic missions) and it took me back to Sector Space and made me start over.
Huh. Best I can figure is you may have been standing just out of position. I was kind of clumsy at this for my first attempt, but you have to be standing where you can interact with both of those consoles that sit at a right angle. I'll try to get on this weekend, drag anyone else who might be online along with me.
I'll tag along. The mobs on Risa were nothing. I dropped my 13 phaser turrets and it melted everyone.
It works fine, goddamn it. See those two consoles at a right angle to each other? My intent was for you to stand in the corner they make, inside the square formation of little transport enhancer tripods. The way this "Foundry" interface works, you can only use an object for one interaction, so I used one for the map goal, and one to trigger the move to the next map.
Following those directions should beam you up to the next map, which is a ship interior. Works fine for me.
I've played mosty of it but the server went down during the Undine fight on Risa. I'd give the mission a 3. Would have given it higher but I found the lack of storyline and the fact that the ground combat against the board is rather repetitive since it's the same wave of enemies 19 times! Felt like a bit of a grind to me. I did, however, like the dancing Borgs and I thought Risa looked better than it does in the actual game.
Meh. I'm not a big fan of the excessive yakkity yakkity yakkity you get from the official missions. I don't even read it anymore. My dialogue is mostly there to give directions and trigger map moves. Though I do think I'll proceed from that mission as the beginning of a simple story plot, if that does anything for ya.
Is the Excelsior still the best ship to have as an Engineer? I refuse to play as long a George Takei's vessel is the pride of the fleet.
Seems like any of the big cruisers will do you fine if you're wanting to be an Engineering tanker. I hate engineering tankers.
It's the only one that can use it that extensively, right out of the box. You get awarded transwarp destinations as you accumulate "diplomacy points" or some such bullshit, though. I currently have Earth Space Dock, Station K-7, and Starbase 39, and I fly a retrofit Defiant.
You get transwarp to virtually every sector with the Excelsior, far more than what you get with diplomacy points. I recommend it.
