Saw a story a few days back that Archer is returning. The article put money on it being in Picard, but unless we have confirmation that S2 involves time travel my latinum is on Lower Decks. Boimler is on the Titan with Riker, who explicitly watches ENT eps on the holodeck. Easiest scenario, busting in on him macking on T'Pol so Riker demotes him back to the Cerritos instead of facing the Wrath of Troi. More complex, time trip back to the days when faith of the heart was needed to exceed Warp 4.9, baby!!
Aside from the guest star, we can reverse-engineer from that that two of the new characters are a boy and a girl in a "when will they kiss already?" situation.
Has there been a Trek series that didn't try to have two characters in a "when will they kiss already?" situation? TOS had Kirk/Rand, Spock/Chapel TNG had Picard/Crusher and Riker/Troi DS9 started with Julian/Jadzia and ended with Odo/Kira VOY had Janeway/Chakotay, Paris/Kes and Paris/Torres plus basically everybody7 ENT had Archer/T'Pol, Trip/T'Pol, Reed/T'Pol...poor Phlox and Mayweather get left out. DIS had Burnham/Tyler PIC had Picard/Raffi and Raffi/7 LDK has Mariner/Boimler and Tendi/Ruteherford
Based on his quote it seems like the report assumed he was referring to Prodigy. Seems like likely that it's Lower Decks.
Picture of the Prodigy crew released. Twist: None of them are human. https://io9.gizmodo.com/say-hello-to-star-trek-prodigys-all-new-all-alien-kid-1846349367
Paramount says it'll premier on Paramount+, and only rerun on Nickelodeon once the whole season airs there. Kurtzman says there will be more interconnectedness in all the shows, but not in such a way as you'll need to have seen the shows. https://trekmovie.com/2021/02/24/st...amount-with-plans-for-new-trek-every-quarter/
Ooooh! If you zoom in on the robot in the hi-res version of the graphic... ...there's a human head in there! There's an ear, a chin, a lip. That's a face. And they're hiding it behind a lens flare. Why? Is that...Janeway? Are we so far in the future, she's a head in a jar in a robot? Like Futurama Nixon? Hmmm!
Dude, there's nothing there but lens flare. I think you've got a case of pareidolia. You should probably see a doctor.
"Sorry about your crew, but as we say on Earth, go woke, go broke." James T. Kirk, Star Trek III: The Search For Spock
Kate Mulgrew on her thoughts on the show, and the showrunners explain why they haven't shown animated Janeway yet.* https://trekmovie.com/2021/03/06/ka...ain-why-animated-janeway-hasnt-been-revealed/ *Well, there goes my theory that he robot was Janeway. I knew that was a long-shot.
I post the news on the shows. That's the news. Someone will care. Me? I care about every scrap of every new Trek show coming out. I cared about the scraps of Voyager back in the day. You erase my memory, and just give me "Emissary" and "Caretaker" there's no way to tell which one becomes the masterpiece. You never now. Best to gamble on all of 'em.
Back in the day? First lady captain. Now? First CGI captain, and second second-stint captain after Picard.
Sort of like if Clarence Thomas wound up being the first black member of SCOTUS, though. Um, what CGI shit did she appear in before Lower Decks? Really? I seem to remember Kirk being a second-stint captain. You know, after he got busted down from being an admiral. So, she'd be the third. Can you tell me (without Googling) who the third person was to fly solo across the Atlantic? Or who the third person to set foot on the Moon was?
Nope. So far as I know, the first CGI Trek was Lower Decks, and Kirk was the first captain to go up and then back down in ranks. Mulgrew's an average actress but the character of Janeway (and really 99% of Voyager) just wasn't that great. So I don't really see any reason to get excited about anything dealing with Janeway, or really even anyone tied with Voyager, unless there's clear indications that it's going to be vastly superior to Voyager. YMMV. I don't even give three shits about what's his face from Enterpoop showing up in something. Honestly, the best thing that any new Trek series could do is retcon Enterpoop and Voyager (along with the first two seasons of TNG, Q, and swaths of DS9) out of existence.
