Aw, I was hoping this would be a thread about Kirk and Spock being gay for each other! :(

I was hoping it would be either/or a title for Trek 2, or a leaked script synopsis.

Keep in mind, it's AICN, and their failure rate is 60/40.

They just edit history to plaudit their big successes.

Their source is dodgy, and they admit "it just feels right".

How the hell can Benedict Cumberbatch play a Middle Eastern super-soldier convincingly??

    God, not Khan.

That's almost as unimaginative as involving the Borg again. Which I guess they did in the first movie, though I can't recall from memory if anything acknowling the Borg tech on the Narada was cut.

    Re: Star Trek Secret Revealed!!!

It's not in the flick at all, but it's in the prequel comic by Bob Orci, and he references it in the commentary, so, that canonizes it as surely if it were crammed into the DVD case.
    IMHO.

Almost nothing will be the same in this altered timeline. The missions will be different. And they found the Botany Bay by chance. And Spock is supposed to be busy with the surviving Vulcans and rebuilding their culture. Maybe in the books to come they might consider what you have postulated. IMO

Well, we do know that V'Ger is still out there, and will arrive at Earth around 2273, and the Whale Probe, that's gonna be at Earth around 2285 or whatever.

So, I don't see those things getting headed off.

    Re: Star Trek Secret Revealed!!!

Only if there was a "Back To The Future 2", twist to it.

Like, the JJPrise falls into their version of the spatial interphase from "the Tholian web", and emerge in the mainline Trek-verse during the arrival of V'Ger, but V'Ger digitizes the whole crew, not just Ilia, just as the JJprise crew all beam aboard to escape their ship blowing up from the rough trip, and they take the place of the original crew, and complete the rest of the mission of TMP.

The timelines are merged, we get a nice sci-fi mindfuck over the crew replaced with duplicates, and Trek tradition is preserved on two levels.

The only rumour that's 100% confirmed is that Leonard Nimoy will be back as "Spock Prime".

Nimoy himself has said so in television interviews and Twitter.

Either way, a whole bunch of people's heads are gonna explode over this movie.

And that's a good thing. :techman:

It's not my speculation, it's Ain't It Cool New's speculation.

I'm rather hoping the movie will be better than that idea.

    Re: Star Trek Secret Revealed!!!

I demand an omnibus movie where V'Ger, the whale probe, the Doomsday Machine, Balok in his Fesarius and Khan make an appearance. The Augments can highjack the Fesarius and make Sybok lead them to the center of the galaxy, where Kirk singlehandedly saves the day, riding the doomsday machine like Slim Pickens on the bomb in Dr Strangelove, before tricking "god" into appearing as a woman to sing the whale probe to sleep, having sex with "her" and then getting promoted to Admiral as the credits roll.

    Re: Star Trek Secret Revealed!!!

I guess I should reserve judgment.

After all, I knew that Heath Ledger was a good actor, but I was leery of him being the Joker. And I knew that Daniel Craig was a good actor, but I was leery of him being Bond.

I've seen Cumberpatch in a few things, and he seems like a very good actor. And I've liked what J.J. Abrams has delivered before. Hmmm.

Guess I'll just wait and see if I like it.

    Cumberpatch????

Who do people keep misspelling his name? It's not difficult!

    It's BUMPERSNATCH. B-U-M-P-E-R-S-N-A-T-C-H. Bendydick Bumpersnatch.
