They've made one movie and they think they have to change the look of the Enterprise? Oy vey . . .

Depends on what they change. The interior sets on the refit E changed from movie to movie.

Personally, I'd be happy if they lost the engineering "brewery" and fixed the nacelles.

The exterior too.

How telling that they're designing sets and locations before they even know what the story is going to be yet. Shows where the priorities are.

What are you talking about? They've been working on the story for months. Set designers need lead time so they can be ready by the time the script is complete, to begin filming. Plus, you seemed to miss this part:

Yeah, I did miss that part. I also misread this statement, "I think we really know what the movie is going to be." My bad.

That's alright. I mean, I know some of you guys are critical of the film, and that's fine, I just don't want you to jump the gun, as it were.

Lanz, you have to remember, James T Kirk, in true Kirkian fashion, damned near destroyed the Enterprise. It would need a total renovation, not just a refit.

He pretty much said outright that main engineering was going to be changed.

It was one of the things when he talked about "listening to fans".

I'd prefer if they concentrated a bit more on the writing, and less on the effects.

Needs to look more like a submarine.

That's not the refit E, that's the E-E.

What, you don't want to see two ugly robots the size of an apartment building swordfight with glowing hot daggers, and rip through engineering in the process?

I suppose since they changed it between movies, you could call it the "refit E-E", but as I pointed out, I was referring to Kirk's ships.

As long as engineering doesn't look like a brewery.....

Either way, so long as this movie continues to piss off the hardcore geeks, I'm happy!

I try to be fair, even as biased as I am. After the first one I'm not exactly expecting all that much, though.

I like the new Enterprise. But, I too would like to see something closer to a "proper" Main Engineering set.

Oh! Even better! The robots tire of fighting, slap each other on the backs, pop open the beer vats like cans, take a slug, and then the "for all you dooo, this Buds for you!", jingle plays!

Wait, wait... I hope nobody's really daring to call this new movie "Star Trek II". I'mahave to kill somebody.

It will be the typical J.J. Abrams crapfest.

The bridge on the Enterprise changed through out their six movies too. The Wrath of Khan and The Search for Stock are the only movies that used the same bridge.

I really liked the brewery used for the engineering complex in STXI. It was just so big.
I also loved the Kelvin power plant innards, so huge guys were rappelling down from the upper levels during the evacuation. These were Star Trek starships reimagined on an epic scale.

Whatever they end up doing, I hope it's not just a plain room with a big blue lava lamp.

I like the vertical intermix cores.

If you want something that looks big and techy, make it look like CERN or a modern nuclear fission reactor core.
