I'm not sure how a Jabba one would even work. I could see a Third Man style plot, with the twist that it's Jabba/Lime that survives, but then I can't see Disney being daring enough to go down that route.
I won't split off a separate Obi-Wan thread until we get casting. It had better goddamned be Ewan. I think like with Alden Ehrenreich, they know, they've known for awhile, and are waiting for the right magical time in the news cycle to drop it.
Plus, it was my original intention that this just be the thread until we got confirmed Han Solo and Obi-Wan, but it looks like we're still gonna need it for Boba, Yoda, and Jabba.
Maybe it could be like episode College from the sopranos. Jabba and Stinky could be out touring space colleges and he runs into Subulba who owes him money and puts him in Carbonite.
Still no sign of any Obi-Wan or Boba Fett stand-alones, third originally planned stand-alone, whatever it was intended to be, might be actually be kaboshed. https://www.yahoo.com/news/disney-dumped-third-star-wars-121807351.html
Reed Morano, who directed episodes of "A Handmaids Tale", is rumored to be in secret talks with Kathleen Kennedy to do a Star Wars movie. She would be the first female Star Wars director. Episode 9 has JJ, Rian Johnson has his trilogy, so this would have to be either Obi-Wan, or Boba-Fett. https://www.cbr.com/star-wars-handmaids-tale-director-reed-morano/
Star Wars: Rian Johnson Open to Jar Jar Binks, Old Characters Returning in New Trilogy https://www.google.com/amp/comicboo...nks-return-possible-new-trilogy-rian-johnson/
I wouldn't mind if he came back if they found a cool way to redeem him, and make his character mean something. Hell, I could have forgiven him being unfunny and annoying in the prequels if he'd mattered more to the plot.
Great. As if we needed to give the nutbag TLJ haters something more to hate. At this point I think Johnson is just getting a kick out of winding people up.
Looks like there's some movement on the Obi-Wan movie. Word is, the art department is making some sketches, and crew are being set up to jump right from Episode 9 to Obi-Wan. Allegedly, we won't start hearing anything solid on it until Episode 9 comes out. If I had to predict a title, I'd have to go with "Kenobi: A Star Wars Story". I won't start a dedicated thread until we get more solid confirmation.
Whelp, either forget Obi-Wan, or push it down in the timeline, cuz without a big how-do-you-do, Kathleen Kennedy just casually and lazily blurted out that the next one is Lando. https://www.cbr.com/lando-star-wars-spinoff-plans/
It’s madness if they don’t take advantage of the only recasting that worked in the prequels with Ewan. Early reviews for Solo are acknowledging that Ford and Billy Dee are missed. Rather sadly, as your comment indicates, Glover is deemed better than Alden Thingy.
I wonder why @El Chup thinks it’s dumb to facepalm the idea of circumventing an Obiwan movie in favor a Lando movie?
I think after 2020, they're gonna bump up to 2 movies a year like Marvel phase 2. They have to. You got Rian Johnson's trilogy, and Benioff & Weiss's trilogy, so they're gonna alternate those on odd and even years. But there's supposedly 3 movies Alden Ehrenreich is on board for, so that's Han, Lando, and Han 2. Boba-Fett has never come off the table. There's been all the Obi-Wan rumors that won't die. There's whispers of Yoda and Jabba. No two ways about it, they've got to double up. Maybe triple.
Yech. No. I haven't seen Solo yet, but most reviews say Donald Glover is great as Lando. Maybe a movie about him where we see that little manuver at the Battle of Tanaab? I think my idea for a Kenobi movie is better than what's being batted around. My idea: Young Luke Skywalker runs away from home and gets involved with some space pirates/scavengers involved in a salvage operation that brings them into contact with the Empire. A jaded, tired Obi-Wan (kinda like Luke in TLJ) and Owen reluctantly team up to track him down, and we see the roots of their mutual antagonism. Darth Vader gets involved in the story, and discovers that the pirates have the son of a Jedi in their midst, and, as Vader gets closer and closer to Luke, Obi-Wan and Owen must not only find Luke and save him, but prevent Vader from learning anything about the boy.
My idea would have been a confrontation with Maul, but Rebels did it already. I tend to think anything involving Obiwan would inevitably involve protecting Luke as well.
Yes, it would really have to. Or, at least, it makes sense that it would. Obi-Wan spent 20 years living as a hermit so he could watch over Luke; it's not like he was jetting off to Alderaan to party it up for weeks at a time.
Take with a grain of salt because we've heard this a million times already but......TMZ is reporting Obi Wan movie is a go: https://www.tmz.com/2018/05/17/obi-wan-kenobi-star-wars-story-movie-plot-director-production/ I dunno about the synopsis....you can't have Obi Wan going full Jedi kick ass on Tatooine because that would attract unwanted attention. It would have to involve Obi Wan going off world for a bit. In any event, I do hope it's true that the movie is starting take shape.
