Maybe he pulled a Daniel Jackson, and transcended/went insane, and had to get away to keep from vaporizing his friends with his powers.

I could see Luke going on some sort of quest after ROTJ, to uncover the remaining secrets of the Force. And in a big galaxy with lots of evil Force users, he could take a wrong turn and disappear without a trace. But I don't buy Han and Chewie needing somebody else to get them to look for him.

Also, one other big flaw in that piece is the claim that they no longer have the Falcon. We know that's not true, based on JJ's unofficial official image releases.

Sounds like a Monty Python parody. I'd buy that for a dollar!

So it's impossible that they get it back during the course of the movie?

I think it's highly likely they get it back, but the write-up makes a big thing about them not having it. The Falcon is a character, so is episode VII about finding the Falcon? Or is it about finding Luke? Just strikes me as too many plot lines that aren't necessary or likely. They might start in a different ship, but I doubt that is significant to anything other than providing opportunity for Solo to show emotion when re-united.

If the story does follow the "pattern" of Episode IV, then Ridley's character is the one who finds an object that initiates a quest (like Luke in ANH), Han Solo is the knowledgeable old guy who knows where they need to go (a la Ben Kenobi), and one of the other characters (Isaacs?) is the pilot they enlist to take them (like Han in the original). It's not inconceivable that the pilot is Han's son and is the current owner of the Falcon.

^Plausible, but it makes me wonder what's the "reversal"? You know, how in the first planet of the apes reboot, its an ape who says, "Take your stinking paws off me" or in into darkness its Kirk who dies, instead of Spock. This film needs one as well.

    YES!
    Been looking for this forever!
MAD Magazine made predictions of how the saga would play out in 1982.

Bits and pieces of it actually came true!
For example, the force is Luke's grandfather instead of his father. :P

    A few interesting hits...

The second movie *does* have "Clones" in the title (AotC).

A conflict between the Wookies and the Empire *does* happen (in RotS).

Luke *does* fight Boba Fett (in RoTJ).

Darth Vader *was* a young idealist and in love (in AotC, RotS).

Darth Vader *is* the father of C-3PO (AotC).

Artoo *does* have memories of all the important events leading to the downfall of the Republic.

The Force *did* apparently conceive someone, although it was Anakin not Luke (TPM).

    Bad form. -25 points.

This has nothing to do with M. Night Shyamalan or his style of dramatic twists.

I wonder if Abrams would use Benedict Cumberbatch in Episode VII? While he'd no doubt make a good baddy, it might be better if he played a good guy, or perhaps a neutral or gray character perhaps(?).

Abrams and Cumberbatch? There's only one thing that can come from that pairing. Halfway through the film, we'll find out that "Toby Johnson" (played by Cumberbatch) is, in reality, none other than... Chewbacca!

Instead of attacking a Death Star, they fly through Beggar's Canyon to destroy Luke's T-16 by throwing womp rats at it.

Holy shit, we really have come full circle to episode 4's Obi-Wan.

From '83 on, I remembered Hamill saying episodes 7-9 would have him come back as an old man, but it seemed so fucking far away, I didn't see it as real.
    Now, here we are.
    It's happening.
    Surreal.

I don't think his paternity is in doubt. There's not even any subtext in the prequels to suggest that Kenobi could be Luke's father.

I think the whole "Search for Luke" storyline means that Luke has become a hermit, much like Kenobi in ANH.

Totally -- almost picture perfect for Obiwan about 10 years BBY. Damn, he actually looks like a cross between Guiness and McGregor.

Chew on this, when Star Wars was released, Alec Guinness was 63. Guess how old Mark Hamill is now. Go on, guess.

Pointless fact, I was walking though through Leicester Square as that interview was happening, having just left a nearby pub.

I looked over and thought, my God, it's Ewan Fucking McGregor!
