I don't see why, but even if we did limit us in that way, we would still be left with the US very much wary of and actively engaged with the threat of the Warsaw Pact; and that is not a remnant of the Third Reich, but technically an ally in the war against it.
And honestly who cares if the First Order blew up the the capital of the Republic. Each world still has a government. Each world can just send emergency representatives to a new world. It's not complicated.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/scottm...-recover-after-bombing-in-china/#76908f10cbf4 Apparently the movie bombed big time in China.
Does your hate make you feel powerful, young Jedi? Here's all you need to know from that utterly useless article (emphasis mine): In a nutshell, shitty movies do really well in China but not so well in North America. /debate
Who said anything about hate? I just posted an article I found about the movie this thread is discussing bombing. It bombed in China, that's a large market.
It may simply be that movies with simpler themes and less subtlety translate better to foreign markets. We're a nation of people raised on superheroes, comic books, Star Wars, space fantasy, etc., and we've collectively become more demanding about what we want out of this formerly low-brow entertainment, because we've seen all the simpler stuff done to death and we're pretty much bored with it. For example: American: "I want to see a Batman film where we explore the darker aspects of Bruce Wayne's personality, and we critique the whole idea of vigilantism." Chinese: "I want to see a Batman film where Batman has exciting adventures beating up criminals!"
I think translation might also be an issue. I can't tell myself, but the way some Chinese fans talk about the Transformers movies, for instance, makes me think the translators might have seriously improved the quality of dialogue and perhaps even the plot.
Ah, shit. I'm sorry. For whatever stupid reason, I got you confused with Zombie, who's definitely hating on the film.
I will admit to not liking the movie, I think the Finn/Rose subplot was incredibly weak, and neither side came off as very competent. The movie had it's moments, mostly in visual effects, and I think that's kind of sad.
The other thing is by the time Chinese people got to finally see the original trilogy it was already old news. So they don’t have that special connection with the material. Star Wars never had that type of impact over there simply due to how long it took for those movies to make it over. So a lot of Chinese people might be thinking ‘Episode 8?? I’ve never seen even half of the other episodes yet. I would probably be completely lost. Why bother watching this one?’ The TF movies, on the other hand, were probably being released simultaneously here and overseas. Regardless of quality, those movies are big events over there. Just like Star Wars over here. Everyone here has seen Star Wars even if they aren’t fans.
The PT, despite all of its flaws, are action packed, the light saber duels are fast paced and a lot of it is dumbed down for GA's. It's what sells tickets. I personally prefer slow duels like what we saw with Vader and Luke. Someone on YouTube made a fast paced version of those duels and it ruined them for me. Chinese audiences don't care about those things though and that's why movies like Transformers and Fast and Furious sells, it has nothing to do with quality, it's all about the action.
He's a blind fanboy. Anything that challenges his view that TLJ is teh uber best movie ever is going to be attacked. Diacanu and him are taking turns defending the movie.
That would require you to mentally grow up and stop being a whiny petulant man-child who thinks he's cool when he constantly changes what others write on this board to create fantasy conversations. In others words probably never. "Born a loser, got old as a loser, died a loser." It'll fit on your headstone.
I'm not "defending" the movie. I'm saying that I quite enjoyed it -- despite its flaws -- and that a lot of the criticism leveled against it is inconsistent in comparison with how the original trilogy is held on a pedestal. In any event, you need to take a hard look in the mirror, hoss. Your behaviour is not dissimilar to others in this thread, regardless of one's opinion of the film.
